@gruven137, you are given the option during install to not install the toolbar. Also after your encode finishes you get a popup again to install the toolbar and again you have the option to say no. The application will continue to work if you say no.

Don't even bother with this POS and just get HandBrake. Like someone already said, it's total crap. It works good one time, and then if you don't install their spyware toolbar, the program quits working and doesn't uninstall. You have to manually try to delete it off your computer and then do a whole registry clean to get rid of it.

Perhaps I just don't have a good enough eye to tell the difference but this program will convert a 2 hour dvd to divx avi in 20 minutes with fantastic quality with a one pass encode. The same dvd converted with AutoGK using 2-pass takes 2 hours and looks to me to be the same quality in fact the output from FDVC looks better to me (That's not a comment on the speed, it's a comment on the quality, obviously 2-pass takes longer than 1 pass). Also the most current version seem to longer support converting to avi divx, just h264 MP4 so i'm still using older version 1.3

It failed all the conversions I tried, and continuosly tries to install its bloody toolbars. It's easy to use and it's free, but it's pure crapware.

This is a superb product. Simple to use, quick, non-technical and guess what - IT WORKS! Bonus? It's free! Highly recommended. I used it to convert video files (VOB) to AVI. I extracted the ISO files from my dvd backup to VOB and hooked this product in to the folder, pressed Convert and bingo! Too good.

I have had unbelievable problems with ripping DVDs to avi files. Have tried practically everything under the sky. It never came out right. Either the aspect ratio came out wrong - distorted playback with VLC or the wrong audio track got ripped. I tried this software yesterday for the first time. It was unbelievably fast and the results were excellent considering the fact that you have available only 3 quality settings and no choice of codec selection. It is limited to mpeg4 and mp3. Containers choice is limited to avi and mp4. For what it does it is absolutely fantastic. It selected English audio every time even when Mediainfo would not identify the languages or VLC could not decipher the language and selection of English language audio had to be done by trial and error from a list of even 8 to 10 included tracks. If the dvd contains subtitles you do have option of hard subbing them. Very often Mkvmerge, Avidemux, VirtualDubMod would throw up error like inconsistent data, etc. Even these got ripped flawlessly. I think I am just going to dump all others and stick with this one.

Well, for a freebe, it is very good, It does what it say, and very FAST also, yes does not convert protected DVDs, but sure I found the workaround, just started DVD43, inserted my DVD, and bingo It went all the way, with a nice Video and sound, so I placed 3 of them in a single layer DVD-R, long time trying other ones, they worked but a long time price(2 to 3 hours) this one does it in a matter of 35 to 45 minutes for a dual layer DVD. VERY GOOG!!!
