Well I was optimistic about DVDSanta but after a few tries and waiting for a response from the email help I've pretty much given up. The first demo I down loaded would crash every time I tried to use the 'narration' option when creating a slide show. That's all I want to do; make a slide show using my digital photos. After emailing their "support" and not receiving any response, I saw there was a newer version so I downloaded that one. I was encouraged because it now does not crash when I try to add narration to my slide show. BUT, it will not pick up my narration. I know the mic is working (I can hear myself through the speakers) but it always says "length 00:00:00" after I'm done recording my narration. I've emailed them about it but, to date, I have not received a response. Is this the kind of "support" that I'll receive when/if I should purchase the program??? NO THANKS! *If this program truly worked I would recommend it highly, however at this point it does NOT live up to it's promise.

I can't get the software to install. I guess it would be a nice program if I could use it.

it works. with the subtitle
like someone post in VH before
you need VobSub installed
1. load DVDSanta
2. load the movie.
3. it ask you to add the subtitle. u select NO
4. CREATE DVD
.note: i see the vobsub icon(green-arrow) on the system tray, right click and make sure you have "subtitle" ticked.
have a go. this is a good program for simple burning AVI/xVID to DVD (with subtitles)

This program crashes when I try to put in subtitles it converts for a while and then vanishes. Works ok without subtitles. Silly name for a program.

Intro:

DVDsanta would crash as soon as I tried to convert a avi into a dvd. (The avi in question was a XVID with AC3 audio). Within the first few seconds after I selected create dvd the program would crash.

Event Viewer told me the faulting module was xvid.ax. After searching the net and various forums, I figured out a solution that nobody else tried. Everybody would suggest its a codec issue and would tell you to reinstall dvdSanta or some other far off solution.

I reinstalled the XVID codec from www.xvid.org (freeware) after I installed dvdSanta. Ever Since dvdSanta works like a charm.

Installed RELATED Apps on my PC (without any driver conflicts)

1)Nero Ultimate Edition (Enhanced)
2)DVDsanta 4.0
3)AnyDVD
4)DVDdecryptor (I never use it)
5)Windows Media Player
6)DivxPlayer (complete bundle)
7)AC3Filter
8)XVID (reinstalled after I installed dvdSanta)

I've been using this software for over 5 years and haven't had any problems with it. Picture and audio is excellent. Recently started trying to covert some XVid avi files to DVD using this utility. An excellent All-In-One DVD.

I'm having the same crashing problem others are having, leading me to think it's pretty prevalent. Shortly after loading an Xvid and Subtitle, the program goes through the motion of converting to DVD then crashes, no error report, nothing. This is the first program I have used that when working, can easily include my subtitles and give me the aspect ratio I want without a whole bunch of tweaking. The program is good when working, but the non-addressed crashing problem is, well........A PROBLEM!!

I downloaded the trial version and for the most part it is easy to use. It saids all video formats but I find that it does not work for MP4, you get the video but no sound. I tried to contact technical support via email and no response. Also, at the time I wanted to buy the product to get rid of the Demo Version but now, I don't know now that I see other comments indicating no response either and some said company went out of business. But besides these issues, the product is easy to use but then I have not try all the formats they support as yet.

This is a support post:
concerning immediate crash upon encoding

If this happens, it is your codecs
download klcodec276beta1.exe

if you have any other codecs that the install mentions
have them all uninstalled
then install the kl-codec pack
this solved my problem

Recently started trying to covert some XVid avi files to DVD using this utility. An excellent All-In-One DVD Converter except for a few weaknesses. Following are my observations:-
Pros:-
1) A very fast converter producing very good quality picture. I have not found any audio sync problem. All files converted produced perfect audio / video sync throughout the duration ( upto 2 hours tried)
2) Except for some very simple selections, the process is virtually automatic.
3) MPEG to DVD convertor tried and found very fast and excellent.

CONS:-
1) The produced DVDs play without any problem on my JVC, and one No-name standalone without problem but would not play on my SANYO. Same DVD after mpg extracting and reauthoring with another program does play on all the three players.
2) After the source file is loaded, the screen does show some info about the file. However, it does not indicate if the video is PAL or NTSC and what is the Aspect Ratio. This makes it difficult to make a choice regarding the DVD type to be produced (i.e. PAL or NTSC, Wide angle or not, quality ie Ciff, D2 or D1)unless another program (e.g. Mediainfo) is used to collect more details and carry out some calculations regarding the DAR of the DVD.
3) All programs (DVDSanta, ConvertXtoDVD, TMPEGEnc, and few others) tried and crashed after a few minutes when trying to convert one XVid file to DVD (even after running AVI Fixing programs). The only program that finally succeeded was the free Mediacoder Version 3.8 in coding to MPEG2 which could then be authored to DVD. DVDSanta would just close itself on conversion failure - no indication / messages about the failure cause.
4) Does not have any facility for providing MENU. So no way to select if multiple videos ( different VTS) are produced for a single DVD.

Inspite of the few weaknesses, an excellent program for a fast and easy way of DVD producing for non-professionals

Nice and fast works great for H264 & formats like mkv, I managed to reslove the subtitle problem by adding hard subtitles and getting FFDShow filter to read the extracted sub titles file (any format including .ass,.ssa,etc). Nothing out off sync and great dvd quality.

I really like this software, but of course like any other program it isn't perfect. I've had problems w/ it not working on others dvd player. I don't like the fact you can't edit or change audio. But as for quick and all-in-one for beginners this is it.

Their support people have not answered my e-mails in which I stated my inability to get the program to function. Although they say they respond to e-mails within 24 hours, they have not responded to several posts that I e-mailed last week. They have not responded to a fax I sent them. Their voice phone # is nowhere to be found. Their web page shows a large building, giving the impression that they are a large business, but research has shown that the building has over 60 separate tenants. The compay name ZY COMPUTING was not listed as a tenant. If someone knows how I can get their Tech support people to respond, I would be very grateful. Judging by the positive posts about the product on this forum, I am puzzled by their lack of response. I did pay and downloaded the product.

best, Aaron

of all the apps i've tried so far, this was by far the quickest. really easy to use. quality was really good too. I havent any problems with this yet but having said that, i've only used it to convert avi's to dvd, nothing with subtitles etc or anything. If you have a lot of avi's to convert, then this is it. i've tied many now and this was really quick with quality maintained also.

The program worked great for me the first time I tried to convert a 1 hour, 350MB AVI file with subtitle to DVD (it took only 45 minutes for the conversion and another 30 minutes to burn). I was excited and purchased it right away and after a few days ... realized that it can not convert more than 1 AVI file with subtitle ... The program will crash after converting the first AVI file. Emailed support ... no answer yet ... Anyone has similar problem who could help me out here? Thanks

It's fine as long as you done add subs... i've not one srt or sub file work with v4, it just crashes minutes into the encode. Since they don't provide updates or fixes, you have to buy the latest release, I don't recommend it.

This is the easiest tool I have seen to date to convert a PAL disc into an NTSC disc without wasting hours ripping, tweaking, re-encoding, reconstructing, and reauthoring.

Pity it doesn't work.

I have only one disc to convert so far, and it repeatedly crashes at seemingly random spots. The resulting VOBs are useless after the crash point; my very capable viewer (WinDVD) cannot navigate in any VOB after that spot. The tool does not support creating 8.5Gb DL disc images, only 4.7Gb discs. The VOBs it generated don't match the original disc, so I question whether the menus and chapters will be accurate.

Glad I didn't spend any money on it, only tried the fully-functional demo (that plasters the first few seconds with a "Demo" tag). I'll poke around on their site to see if others have had similar experiences, but the rest of you should be wary of this product until it becomes more stable.

Cons - it's a bit to simplistic and lacks advanced features.
Pros - it has some cool features outside DVD copying (which it does brainlessly simple). For instance, it can crate DVD photo albums with cool transition effects.

I just upgraded to version 4.0.

All working fine... except the subtitle feature.
Color is yellow and looks as if the subtitle is created in 16:9 view while picture is done in 4:3 view.

Very strange.
