YadeX |
Yade X is, as its name suggests, an extractor of DVD-Video. With this tool, we can extract our hard disk the contents of a DVD-Video staff (non-commercial, and thus unprotected), such as those we have previously made with iDVD, or those who are registered with a DVD of the show.

Yade X is the only Mac ripper I know that lets you view the footage you're ripping right in the ripper. It doesn't play the video in real time, but you can scroll through the preview and see for sure which title you're ripping. This helps big time when trying to rip just one item from a DVD with lots of shorts and extras. Yade X lets you open a VIDEO_TS folder, which most rippers don't. So if you already used Mac The Ripper to rip the entire disc, you can use Yade X to open the ripped VIDEO_TS folder, look around, and convert a particular title to one big .vob, or to elementary streams. You don't need to re-rip the physical DVD. Yade X is also convenient for ripping the .ac3 audio from a DVD, then opening the .ac3 in MPEG Streamclip to convert only portions to .aiff. Yade X saves the .ac3 with a mAC3dec resource fork, which is the way MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 likes to see it.

"Can extract DVD as a disk image" It's for me the most important option of Yade X. Using this option i'm able to rip the DVDs which ripping fails (a very few) using MTR2. And after i'm able to work the YadeX mounted image on my desktop using DVD2One.
