HAving just really brushed up against it, I cant comment in depth. However from what I see it appears to be just a large interface thats viewable from 10 feet. Download myhtpc (free) and get the same experience. You dont get the free (2) games with that, but on my admittedly brief, encounter it has all the same functionality.. without the permitted hardware driver list that MCE insists on. This really needs to add a lot more before they can start charging bucks for it.. Its just a very readable interface tying together a music player, photo slideshow and movie player and tv recorder/watcher. I'm sure many people coulf write something in vis bas that would tie their existing programs together. And of course the music player is wmp9. OK if you get it for free but certainly 3 to 4 versions away from being good...it will never be great because MS is to beholden to DRM.

This update seems to be causing a lot of problems. See www.thegreenbutton.com/community under General Discussion. When I installed it, I could not get Media Center 2005 to run in maximized mode. It would only run minimized. I created another profile and it ran OK in that. I had to restore my system to just before the update to get Media Center to run full-screen again with my original profile. Other people seem to be having various other types of problems with this update.
