Jeremiah58, you clearly don't understand my comments. There are two installers, the outer installer that you download can install adware. It is not supposed to install adware without your consent. If it did, please report it to Shark007 on the official support site. I am not affiliated with Shark007 in any way - I just like his codec pack. Again, to eliminate the possibility of adware, extract the inner installer using 7Zip. I have upgraded to many new versions since using the 7Zip extract procedure and never had a problem with adware. If this is too difficult, please do use a different codec pack. I like this one.
You are lying and talking nonsense, trying to deceive other users. Either you are the developer, or paid by him.
I downloaded current installer from the developer site here: http://shark007.net/win8codecs.html
On that page the developer clearly said this: "MajorGeeks receives the distribution file directly from me.
It is currently 15.7MB and has an MD5 of af39c5a6b3b8bf7a1ecbb48d2b0c971e"
So, Shark007 is the one who packs the installer!
And there is no warning about the adware.
Now I repeat - this will install, not one, not two, but 4 very nasty adware programs without your consent. BEWARE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRAP!
I don't know if this is true that adware is installed without consent by the downloaded installer, because I always extract Shark007's installer using 7Zip, which does NOT install adware. You might do a little research before getting all hysterical...
AVOID NEW VERSIONS!
This is packed with several nasty adwares which install without your consent.
It completely froze up my system (Win8 64 bit) after installation and I had trouble even to boot up the system again.
I suggest that admins remove it completely from the download section.
This works as advertised.
One minute to download and install, and it solves the problem about MPEG2 and other codecs missing from Windows 8. I've tested it for a week and all is fine.
Thanks to developer.
