WM Capture is the only PC video recording program ever made that captures video from any online source with perfect quality - if you can watch it you can save it. It records video from ANY Web site, regardless of format. It even records DVD's playing on your PC. And because it does not circumvent or hack DRM (Digital Rights Management) or any copy protection technology, it's 100% legal world-wide. Amazingly Perfect Picture Quality Unlike other screen video capture programs which render choppy videos, WM Capture uses a unique high speed capture technology to create a near perfect reproduction of what you see on screen, playable as a Windows Media Video file. Or, you can use our proprietary MPEG-2 codec for even more outstanding picture quality. Other screen capture programs cannot process video data fast enough to make acceptable videos. WM Capture's special design uses the most advanced high-speed video processing technology, and the results are amazing. Even the toughest video types like full motion sports play back perfectly. See for Yourself! The videos below were captured from a popular TV show's online episode player, and a Video-on-demand (VOD) subscription service as WMV (Windows Media Video) files. We think you'll agree they look great. Just click them to play. WAtch TV Show Sample Watch Online TV Show sample (7.6 Mb WMV) Watch VOD Sample Watch Sports VOD sample (5.6 Mb WMV) Super-Easy to Use It's easy to capture videos by marking an area to record. Just click Get Window, and then move your mouse over the region you'd like to record, and it's highlighted automatically. You can also mark a recording region manually to clip or extend the capture area. Once you have a rectangle marked, just click the Record button, and play a video to capture it. It's that simple!

This software does work good but you need a lot of CPU power. For low rez stuff that has DRM it's not a problem, but for Netflix or Hulu the more CPU the better. Keep in mind that your computer has to stream and play back flash or any other file then capture it. Programs like this will get ever better overtime. Well, I gave this a try not expecting much, and it looks like I was right to be pessimistic - this technology has a number of obvious limitations. It is hard to get in-synch audio, or to get accurate color reproduction, aspect ratio and frame rate, nor can it preserve interlacing. It captures video in whatever format (scaled, deinterlaced etc) that a particular media player chose to render on a particular occasion. The resulting video isn't necessarily captured in a form best suited for compliance with any standard such as DVD (ie. regarding frame size and frame rate). So the only way to make a DVD would be to transcode yet again, by which time the video is at least a third generation copy. It must be said that this tool DOES work, so if you are willing to fiddle with audio synch and your goal is just something you can play on your PC then you might be happy with it.

Using Vista SP1 on a Sony VAIO VGN-NR11S with Realtek High definition Audio. Not possible to enable recording on the device. Universal Audio Driver refuses to work; option to use the driver can be checked but the device does not appear in the (empty) list of audio sources. Shows message "Unable to install audio filter" when trying to do the audio test. Tried starting WM Capture before browser, tried running as Administrator etc. Doesn't work. In my opinion this program is not suitable for use under Vista and it really shouldn't be advertised as being so. If I get some more time to waste, I might try it under XP. Until then, it's off the hard disk and I'm moving on. Customer experience rating: 2 out of 10 and I can't recommended it to others.

I love this piece of software. When I come across those pesky videos on the web I can't seem to download, I open this up, use the rectangular selection tool, then hit record. It records the video in nearly the same quality as I'm watching it. It's like a PRINT SCREEN for videos. My only real issue is it doesn't have more features. You are pretty much stuck saving in 1 of 2 formats with limited control on bitrates, etc.
