About the only thing I've ever had trouble with are MKV files. I hope support for this format will be coming soon.

So far the best away tool for encode.. i use it for 3 years now and i am 100% satisfying! I wait for the 2 version and i hope to see some new functionalities and some new format support. :)

I just used the software to join 2 avi movie files going by the directions on the guide site the process was easy and now I have a joined 2.59 min file to burn as 1 movie thanks great job on this software.no problems but then I did read the directions and I am a Retired Engineer lol I just got lucky with the first time use I guess but know I have the whole movie, awesome!

Great program that I've used for years. Excellent support for codecs and filters. The new DV capture doesn't work well for me though--serious audio sync issues. So I'll still use WinDV for capture. Perhaps the best thing about this program is that it is still being actively developed, and multithreading is being experimentally implemented now.

VirtualDub doesn't work correct with DivX v6.1 when cropping internal (not filter) with DivX6 encoder. If you set crop value 32 for left and 32 for right side, VirtualDub crashes (same when using VirtualDubMod). That doesnt happen with DivX v5.21. For test purposes, I've set those values (crop 32 on left & 32 on right side) manualy into registry: .../DivXNetworks/DivX4Windows/State In this case VirtualDub(Mod) doesn't find DivX codec at all. If other values are applied (16 for example), everything works fine.

A must have tool. I always find new uses for this tool. The latest version now supports capturing DV From DV-Cam via firewire to DV Type 2.........Cool.

AWESOME + FAST + EXCELLENT It's the last reason I still use my PC for video editing. Vdub for OSX or Linux is my deepest dream.

The author of VirtualDub has put a lot of effort into improving its performance and I find that the tool gets better and better with each release. I could'nt be without it,easily a 10.

Latest upgrade is a major one. It gives you a much larger choice than before regarding colorspaces for input and output. It is much faster now as a result. Best free software on the net!! Anyone who gives less than 10 for ease of use-functionality-value for money-overall score is a fink!! No insult intended to anyone.:)

Interface can be improved. If it has standard interface like toolbars it would be easy. Performance is great.

Being a newbie to digital video editing I tried a variety of free and trial programs. VirtualDub is a must have tool and worth the minor effort (getting codec's) of setting it up. All I initially wanted to do was join some AVI clips successfully. After converting to the proper type AVI with another utility I finished my project. I am pleased with the results. I am amazed of what VirtualDub can do. Finding a good source of information to learn how to use the many features is my next step. You're pretty much on your own when starting out but there is a lot of help available.

Virtualdub(by Avery Lee) is on of the best capture programs available basically because it always keeps the audio and video syncronized,unlike many expensive capture utilities bundled with capture cards.It is also entirely free. You can also choose from a wide variety of filters such as deinterlacers,resize and inverse telecine. If you find that Virtualdub drops frames during capture,this is most probably down to the program making sure that the outputted video file is completely in sync. Try it you wont be disappionted!

i am no computer expert . i bought the full version of all video splitter. nothing but problems . virtualdub is the best software i have come accross with as far as i am concerned. thanks to all the people who made this software what it is.

Everything to everything! That resumes what virtualdub is all about. You NEED this tool if you want to work with digital video. Just install the video codecs and youŽll be amazed of what virtualdub can do. I recomend downloading the MPEG2/VOB version of virtualdub (same as original, plus mpeg2/vob import feature). Let me just add that if you want to place permanent subtitles to your movie/video, no matter what format you have and you want to convert to, you can do it with virtualdub and the included frameserve. Read the guides section on how to do that. This excellent piece of software should be in all the categories of the tools section. Virtualdub does everything!.

If you dont have this tool in your video toolbox, then you are not in the game, man. This has got to be the best of the best as far ease of use and functionality available today. The fact that this is freeware is just amazing. Handling *.avi for editing, filtering, encoding DivX (downloaded codec required), frameserving to MPEG encoders is done with ease. I guess in computer-geek speak, this would be considered middleware. Although, it can capture *.avi with codec supplied (HuffyUV, PICVideo, DivX, et al). If you are serious about making great looking, professional looking production, you must get this tool. Stop reading right now and go download this freeware and then download/print the tutorial on this site or try www.lukesvideo.com for more info.
