Latest version is full of SPAM. You must be desperate to use it.

nice program. great quality. relatively fast, as well. but there's no .SRT subtitle support when converting xvid to ipod? would be even better with the ability to burn subtitles onto the movie.

Great user interface as compared to the other GUI's like meGUI or staxRip. Regarding the issue where it completes transcoding instantly and nothing happens, the Console is a great tool for figuring out problems. You can read the ffmpeg error. Great tool though.

Throws an error when it starts, crashes when I minimise it. Incredibly slow to "transcode" DiVX to MP4, (50% of real-time on 1GHz box) but does actually work. This alone puts it head and shoulders above the other stuff I have tried to use

This is a great little application, and well worth the download if you have a portable video device (PSP or iPod) or need a conversion utility for web or email content. Works great as a supplement to my BeyondTV setup. The only problem I've had is when I've tested transcoding a few pretty high quality .WMV files and had trouble with A/V sync. Files were: 720x480, 30fps, 6900kbps bitrate The version I have includes avisynth in the package installer. I need to try again and maybe transcoding to a different drive than the source file and bump the process to a higher priority. I've successfully transcoded low bitrate WMV, as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, .MOV, .AVI, and even HD MPEG-TS streams to H.264. They look great on my iPod. It is a slow conversion, but the H.264 is worth the time because it looks so good -- even when using the iPod output to TV (I love that feature!). Videora works so well, that I wish it was possible to encode to higher resolutions for my PVR. The max available through the GUI is 320x240 (and some widescreen formats like 416x176, 400x192, 480x160). Not sure if there is any way to tweak those settings, but it seems like it should be possible since the stuff under the hood offers much more than that. MPEG-4 encoding is okay for the iPod, but does not do as well when I output to TV -- especially big screen. Also not as good for high motion shows. H.264 looks great on the iPod -- the other reviewer must not be using iPod compatible settings. Cheers, Bryan P.S. This is the first 10 I've ever given in a review of any kind -- I'm very impressed at the stability of this free tool -- good enough value that I'll probably make a contribution!

I don't normally post comments but I have to say this is a really great tool Apple should take note! It’s very quick and with the use of an other tools such as DVD shrink and DVDX you can get your DVD’s onto you ipod in a relatively short time. Some minor issues when using it with XP but its free and a smart person will work the problems out. Think the people at Videora should be praised for such a useful tool one last thing you have to have the net framework so the 6.3 meg download is actually 21 ~ 23 megs.

This program works great! After trying multiple programs to get some video on my iPod (without success) I turned to this one and have been happily watching videos with it! Make sure you install avisynth with it, or it won't do wmv files. It will just spit an avisynth script at you otherwise. Encoding is pretty quick too, I did a DVD rip (following guide instructions available at their download site) and a two pass encoding of The Matrix took just over two hours. File size was an astonishing 760 MB! This is using the highest available MPEG4 settings, I haven't been able to get the h264 to play on my iPod. It will encode to it, just not playable for some reason.

For some reason, the sound is out of sync by the end of a movie. Starts out OK, but is off by about 1 second at the end. I've checked the "Sync sound" box, and the AVI file is OK. I've seen another post about this same problem somewhere, but no fix was mentioned other than making sure the Sync Audio box is checked.

I think this software is great! I've converted music videos, recorded TV, full length movies. I've converted using single pass mpeg4 using the high res profiles for Ipod that Videora came with. AV sync is perfect, watching movies on the ipod is great! No pixelation, just great conversion and easy to use. Will even batch convert several files.

I had the same problem as the previous poster. Checked in the debug window and saw that it was connected with having other copies of cygwin1.dll on my system. I ran MSConfig and disabled OpenSSH on start up (which uses cygwin1.dll). This allowed conversion to go ahead. But I seem to have sound and no picture when I play :-(

Having problems with Nero Recode hanging on my system during batch conversions so thought I'd give this a try for MPEG-4 conversions did not try H.264 (yet). Did a batch of 16 music videos ripped and edited from unencrypted DVD's. A/V Sync is good, I used 2-pass encoding for the video and it looks good as well. Files play no problem in both i-Tunes and Quicktime, I don't have iPod Video yet for test. I later tried converting .AVI captures done with PICVideo, The Videora iPod Converter would instantly flash "Transcode Complete" without doing anything at all, so no go with my avi's. have not tried with full length movie yet. This program is a decent front-end for ffmpeg so is capable of much more than iPod conversions.
