I've discovered this tool after various problems with avisub(specially the PAL/NTCS recognizing problem) this tool is far away better, it works well, no more PAL problems because there's an selectable option for the region system also you can add up to 8 different subtitles, with the support of "Right to lift" languages (in my case: Arabic) the installation is not difficult at all. just follow the instructions (but I feel it's kind of stupid that the coder hasn't added the needed files with program itself)

Apparently it inverts the colors chosen. Using this application showing wanted colors, gives me correct colors on the PC (Divx Player) but inverted colors on my TV. Sub2DivX generates: HEADER] TITLE FRAMERATE PAL DROPFRAME NO CONTRAST (0 15 15 15) COLOR (0 1 2 3) [PALETTE] 0 (0, 0, 255) 1 (255, 255, 255) 2 (92, 92, 92) 3 (70, 70, 70) ****************************** Using srt2bmp I get the correct color subtitles on my PC and TV srt2bmp generates: [HEADER] TITLE FRAMERATE PAL DROPFRAME NO CONTRAST (0 15 15 15) COLOR (0 1 2 3) [PALETTE] 0 (32, 32, 32) 1 (92, 92, 92) 2 (255, 255, 255) 3 (255, 255, 0)

The installation is a bit unusual, but isn't that hard. Just follow the instructions. Additional components are available at the main website of the tool and can be placed in the same installation folder as the tool itself. One remark must be made: despite the description, this tool doesn't have a realtime preview possibility. So you can't preview the actual avi with the added srt. You can only select 1 frame (by typing the frame number, which can be random) from the avi and adjust the sub so it fits nicely. You can select any line from the sub you want. After that you can mux the avi and subs into a divx file. If you think about it, it makes sense: in fact you need just 1 frame to adjust the subs accordingly for the whole avi. Who wants needs to see the entire avi? The position of the subs won't change during the avi... You have several options to adjust the sub to your particular needs (color, shadow, font position) but you can't fiddle with the synchronization itself. I prefer SRT creator for doing this. I was able to load an avi, load an srt, do some adjustments and mux it to a divx file without the manual although the interface isn't very intuitive (takes some practice). This works fairly good and this tool positions the subs more accurate then some other tool called AviSub. I prefer Sub2Divx and it definately deserves a higher ranking.

the problems of previous release were solved But it needs a better installation guide. Worth to try.

Sorry to say, but this program is unusable as it stands. There is a requirement to use various other components/programs for it to achieve it's aim. However, there is no description of where the additional components need to be installed for it to work and nothing in the program options to indicate the pathnames! Also, the actual operation seems very fuzzy i.e. there are no playback controls for the video, so how one can see the effects of the subtitle positioning, font etc., I don't know. Needs some work to be worth bothering with.
