Removing region restrictions did not work for me on 3 diff. drives. If you want to watch other region dvd's without flashing your drive go get DVDIdle.

Could not play region 1 DVD's on any of my DVD drives which are set for region 4, I can already change the Regions on each drive BUT limited to 5 changes, was looking for a program which allowed the drives to play any region DVD without have to change the region which I though this was. Are they any programs out there they change the DVD drive to Region FREE?

This program has 3 big points going for it (tested with powerDVD): 1) It works without hassle. First time you run it, go to "control tab" and make it region free, and disable macrovision and user prohibitions, and it will save these settings in an .ini file 2) no need to install. run when you need it to keep system resources free, or choose the windows startup option so it's always on 3) FREEWARE! Before this i was gonna install dvdgenie or dvd43 (freeware version), both of which I think must be installed and run in the background (correct me if I'm wrong), but now I see no need to do so.

Running winxp pro sp2 Ive been trying to find a region changer for sometime. Since Dvdgenie is no longer being updated and does not work with the current windvd/powerdvd version. I found Remote selector even easier to use, you dont have to exit the player in question and restart it, when changing regional discs and you dont need any other drivers to run it. I have tried to trick it by constant switching of regional discs even rce and it still pumps up the movie straight away. Also allows you to skip the annoying fbi warning screens etc, which some discs wont allow you to do. Does exactly what it says on the box Overall, best freeware ive used so far.

Superb tool. Have used it with an old DXR2 card, then found it worked well with PowerDVD and WinDVD. The "region free" part only works if your hardware (your DVD drive's firmware) can be made region-free with a firmware revision; check on web sites like http://forum.firmware-flash.com/portal.php to see what drives can be revised. The best feature is "eliminating user prohibitions." This means you can (sometimes) fast-forward through the required things like FBI warnings, skip those interminable menus like on the Harry Potter movies, and even (with WinDVD at least) get useable frame captures from DVD movies. This alone is worth the registration price. The only problem is you must start Remote Selector, and then start your video player software from the RS menu. This small inconvenience is worth the minor hassle.

So far so good plays both R1+R2 dvds great. Easy to sign up via credit card and instant download afterwards. You can even try out a free 14 day trial before hand(though your dvd stops after 20 minutes and you have to reload). Supports several well known dvd software players. Recommended for Power Dvd users!
