Quick AVI CreatorNO MORE UPDATES? |
Quick AVI Creator is a DVD/Video to AVI/xvid/x264 front-end, which uses several GNU licensed applications to convert DVD/video to AVI/xvid/x264. The extra goal of the Quick AVI Creator is the absolute tuning of the output. To accomplish this goal, QAC uses AvsP which is the main difference between Quick AVI Creator and other video conversion front-ends. Therefore you have the full control of the generated Avisynth script, thus you take advantage of every feature that the Avisynth offers. You can preview the output, resize, trim, deinterlace, if necessary, change frame rate, add Avisynth filters like denoise, etc. The FLV transcoding feature requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

Apologies, I forgot to mention that the FLV Extract (http://moitah.net/#FLVExtract) which is required for the FLV transcoding new feature, requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed. This is true for Windows versions prior to Vista. @ CSULB71 Sorry for the inconvenience :(

This is a nice little tool. It was able to handle HD .wmv without choking. I added Spline16 filter to downsize the .wmv to 720x480 for viewing on a divx stand-alone dvd player using xvid codec. My only minor gripe is it doesn't come configured with an xvid one pass mode. It took me a bit of messing around to add it myself. (If you add a section in square brackets, similar to adding a section in an .ini file, to xvid.presets file, that choice will be added to the drop down box. I just modified the 2nd line from 2 pass mode and used it. It worked fine.) For my purposes this is a very nice tool to add to the video toolbox. Thanks to the author for making it available. :)

Supposed to now accept FLV as input source -- it DOESN'T! Every FLV I tried to load got part way through the extraction, and gave the error message: "An unexpected error has occurred!".
