This is a wonderful program but is only suitable for advanced users, newbies should not bother.

Demuxing MPEG-2 PS files captured with a DVB-S application (cutting commercials along the way) was smooth, very fast and stable.

I propose that you make better program. As for me, this is incredible useful program, the best one. Author of that program didn’t know about each user of ProjectX. I hope in future this program could have possibility work with HD streams. My rating is 10.

I don't see how this program could possible have a 9 out of 10 rating. It's the most horrible program I have ever used. It has, without a doubt, one of the worst conceived user interfaces known to man. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, because I am not as versed in the science and art of MPEG2 transport streams as some of the others who have rated it, and also because I did not give it a thorough workout. Partly because I couldn't figure out how to use it or what it was supposed to do in the first place, and partly because I couldn't uninstall it from my system fast enough. So noob though I may be when it comes to MPEG2 TS, the fact remains I gave it a 1 score in every category only because I couldn't give it a 0 (zero). In my opinion, even "value for money" rates a 0 and the fact that it's free doesn't change that opinion.

Just needed to update my previous comment about ProjectX and TMPGEnc. Found that the original mpg file was the problem and had GOPs with more than 15 frames which is not DVD compliant. So the fact that the demuxed files that TMPGEnc created did not work in Encore was not TMPGEnc's fault at all. In fact, TMPGEnc demuxed a different bad mpg file which had perfect audio/video sync in Encore while all other demultiplexers including ProjectX had audio/video sync problem, which of course were not their fault either. The software that created the original mpg files is the problem. So ProjectX and TMPGEnc are both great demultiplexers. Just needed to set the record straight.

I love this tool! This tool demultipled a problem mpg file to m2v and mp2 which worked in Adobe Encore. It said it found one error in the mpg file and apparently fixed it because the elementary streams now work in Encore 1.01. Tried TMPGEnc Plus first (purchased it darn it) but even that well known tool could not demux the problem mpg file to allow the m2v file to work in Encore. Also tried demux which was not able to demux the problem mpg file to useable form for Encore 1.01. The interface is still confusing to me and I just barely got it to demux but I plan to spend some time to figure out how to use this software to its maximum potential. It can do things that other software cannot.

Essential app for MPEG2 Transport Stream Processing. One of the few free apps which will allow you to convert TO Transport Stream format. An amazing number of options for processing your Mpeg video streams. The program is very good at ensuring proper audio/visual synchronization of processed files. If you have a TV capture card (especially the HDTV kind), you'll want this. I'd give this app an "11" if I could. Download the compiled version from the download section so you don't have to install JAVA.

Very very very good tool indeed! I personally use it for cutting commercials off my DVBT recordings - recorded by my Siemens M740 box. ProjectX works very well, I was very surprised by its usability and namely performance (was a bit sceptic because of the underlying Java). My procedure is something like this: 1) Having M740 connected via SAMBA proto & 100Mbps Ethernet to my Linux box => so aired DVB-T MPEGs (TS format) are stored right away on the target platform/box. 2) I use Cridical (cridical.exe) for exports of the M740 recording to a single *.ts file (a TS MPEG). 2.1) Note: Not calling PVAStrumento, just cridical.exe, and I select a "TS" export in Cridical. It is very fast (it's basically a merge of all M740 recordings/files related to a single show). 2.2) Note: I run cridical.exe via Wine - without problems. 3) Now, having a TS MPEG (*.ts) file, ProjectX comes into play. I simply open a file in the ProjectX GUI, and then select Videocuts/Specials. Then I mark the commercials out, and from the main screen I select the "demux" and press the "Go" button. After a while, the ProjectX tells you it's done. Now you have demuxed audio and video streams (*.mpa, *.m2v). Commercials free, of course. 4) Using mplex from mjpegtools, I create a DVD-compliant MPEG file, suitable for DVD authoring - like this: $ mplex -f 8 -o final.mpg video.m2v video.mpa This is also very quick - no encoding here. 5) This final MPG file is the usable in DVDauthor, or can be used for input into other processing (like MPEG4 transcoding via transcode/mencoder or whatever you wish). So the summary is: YES! Try this tool! It's worth installing it.

Can't believe no one has commented on this wonderful tool. It has now saved me twice when absolutely nothing else seemed to do the job. I had a transport stream which, though it would play back normally, when demuxed would come out of sync, no matter what I tried. Well, that seems to be the specialty of this little app: demuxing and keeping in sync. Perfect! Sometime later I was struggled with a VOB set which had been constructed from what were originally 4 separate titles. I wanted to demux the audio and video for reauthoring, but the latter 3 titles always came out of sync. This was true even though every demuxing tool I tried indicated *no* audio delay. Well, I didn't think ProjectX worked on VOB files but thought I'd try it for a lark. Ya know what? **PROJECT X WILL DEMUX VOB FILES!!** It will demux EVERYTHING from a VOB set and will keep it all in perfect sync! Fantastic! You gotta try this :-)
