Nero Linux 3 has just been updated. It's at version 3.5.3.1 now. I haven't yet fully tested it but so far I don't see any changes in the interface. It think it just corrects some KDE compatibility issues.

It looks pretty, and does mostly what it should. I'm on the fence if it's worth the $30 for everyone. I personally bought it, because I like to support companies that support Linux. Then again, $30 is cheap for a program that works, and works well.

The GUI is well laid out. Has some basic options like burn ISO, create ISO, data cd, audio cd, DVD-Video and so on. The only feature I'm aware of that puts it above any of the other Linux burning tools (K3B, Brasero, and other cdrtools front ends) is the ability to burn UDF 2.0+ discs with out the needed kernel patches. Of course you can't read them back on the same PC, but hey it works. Doesn't have the option for (S)VCD, loading and burning of other image files besides .iso seems to be iffy.

I create all my DVD-Video iso's as .img's. They are nothing more than .iso renamed to .img, because I associate that file type to play with VLC. Nero can not import this file, it fails. If I rename .img to .iso, it works fine. Cdrecord, and by extension, Brasero and Nautilus-CD-Burner have no issues with these files.

The interface is similar to what Nero 6 for the PC looked like. Thankfully GTK2 and NOT Qt!!

If Ahead would add some of the nicer add on features/tools from the PC version, it would be well worth it. But as it stands right now with version 3.1.x it just doesn't add anything new that isn't already available in open source.

Anyone who purchased the 2.x line got hit with a full upgrade bill to 3.x. Which I understand, because 3.x is a vast improvement, but I wonder what will happen when/if they move to 4.x.

Support seems to be decent. Questions are answered quickly and accurately at the cdfreaks forum, from, what I gather, to be an actual Nero employee, or at least close contact.

This is a excellent release. Running now under Ubuntu 7.10. I get much better results burning my DVD Movies, and Audio CD's using NERO Linux as opposed to NERO for Win. or any other burning application. NERO Linux is NOT bloatware like it's windows counterpart. 10+
