Neat Video 3.3 update introduces direct support for GPU-based acceleration on AMD/ATI video cards via OpenCL. View full changelog Earlier in version 3.0, Neat Video added CUDA-based acceleration for NVidia GPUs. Starting with the 3.3 update, Neat Video will also be able to use some computation-capable AMD/ATI cards through the OpenCL interface. Initially, the AMD/ATI support will be added in two products: Neat Video 3.3 plug-in for After Effects (Windows) and Neat Video 3.3 plug-in for Premiere (Windows). Shortly after, the Mac versions of the After Effects and Premiere plug-ins will get the same capability. Later on, other versions of Neat Video will also be updated. The updated Neat Video 3.3 plug-ins for After Effects (Windows) and Premiere (Windows) include: Added support for AMD/ATI GPUs (GPU acceleration is now possible with both NVidia and AMD/ATI cards) The following AMD/ATI GPUs are supported: ATI Radeon HD 57xx/58xx/59xx; AMD Radeon HD 67xx/68xx/69xx; AMD Radeon HD 77xx/78xx/79xx; Another AMD/ATI GPU based on one of the following chip series: Juniper, Cypress, Barts, Cayman, Cape Verde, Pitcairn, Tahiti Notes: AMD Catalyst Driver 12.4 or newer is required; the latest drivers are recommended for the best results. Using the latest models of AMD GPUs is recommended for the best performance. For example when using the Radeon HD 7950 card alone (without help of CPU), Neat Video filter can typically process about 10-12 full HD frames per second (as measured in the built-in Benchmark and Optimize). Older models of AMD/ATI cards will usually be slower than that and in certain cases even slower than the CPU of your computer. Therefore, please make sure you use Optimize in Neat Video Preferences to adjust the performance settings to available computing devices. Works wonders on old TV shows, but it is slow. I used it a sample clip of a 60s soap opera and out various programs it gave me the best result. Granted it took nearly 10 hours (2 passes) It played very smooth and clear

On my simple Core2Duo with 2 GB it works with Virtualdub at about 4 FPS (so it takes app. 6 times the len of the film to render it). The quality after some tests is excellent, much better then for example the denoiser in Magix Video deluxe or the virtual dub one. NEAT seems to know the job from their famous photo version. You must be careful in combining the filter with others in the same run, a combination with the contrast/saturation filter gives me a blue video. If I find out how to let Virtual dub directly produce MPG“s I will buy the full version. (Not a problem of NEAT, of course)

I use the Virtualdub version. It is slow as hell. Even on an iCore7. And you need to test a lot to find out how it works. But it's the best filter you can have for video noise. Analogue, Digital, name it. A must have.
