My problem files are unplayable in Windows Media Player(WMP), choppy under GOM, and good under VLC. After using the corrector, they become playable under WMP (though play too tall with the wrong aspect ratio), and the choppiness disappears from GOM player. However, the corrector still fails to fix the broken frames in my files. WMP froze when it reached those frames. So far this is the only file fixer that I've found to actually improve my files. Very much worthwhile.

IMPOPORTANT NOTE: This tool has been merged into VCDGear. (mpeg->mpeg; fix MPEG errors). So if there are any enhancements or fixes, that's where they'll be found.

I'm impressed. I have a VCD that was burned incorrectly. It wouldn't play on anything nor could the files be copied. So first I used CDCheck to salvage the video. Still didn't play. Then I used this program on the file CDCheck extracted and now it plays from beginning to end. There are slight video and sound glitches at the beginning of the movie but at least it plays.

This is definitely the tool to use if you have incomplete MPEG files, particularly if downloaded from a p2p app. I use eMule, as the previous poster does, and this tool is absolutely amazing at fixing incomplete MPEG files. Even if you haven't got the first part or are missing many more, this little baby will truncate the missing parts and rewrite the header. I've not found any other tool that can do this! It will allow you to open it in any player and in many editing programs like virtualdub, as well as having a thumbnail preview even if missing the first part. A simply awesome tool!

I downloaded a defective MPG file from Emule, the duration was about 38 minutes and was full of missing sections. I used the program and it completely fixed it: the real length is about 59 mins., but it seems like initially the player couldn't read some parts so it jumped them or something. I can't be more grateful for this piece of free soft, it really worked for me. Thanks so much!!

i dont know wat you guys r tryin to do with this tool but it worked for me.. i bought a vcd and second cd wouldnt play on my dvd player.. i ripped it but came up with error. some crappy protection.. so i watched it with wmp and the whole disc was there.. but it would crash other players.. i ran tmpenc multiplex to it first. then ran this. and bam it works on my fav player.

This tool didn't do anything to correct my faulty mpeg files.Glad to hear it works for other people, but I give it an overall score of 3 because I found it useless.

I am really not sure what this tool is doing (and it does nothing to make it easy to find something). I have given it a non-completed MPEG file I download from eMule. The file had gaps in it (abozt 25% were missing). After running MPEG Corrector the file is even a few bit larger - the gaps are still there. The tool does not print any information while processing the file. There may be situations where this tool might do something useful - so far I haven't found any.

i had a faulty mpg, which i needed to conert to svcd. tmpgenc could convert, but it made the video go out of sync to the audio. i tried correcting the original file with mpeg corrector, it did a great job, although the output file couldn't be used now at all with tmpgenc, but instead i put the new file into nero & allowed it to convert to svcd & it did an excellent job. anyone having problems with this software should try using nero with the output file, because i can assure you that it works well.

Worked great for me fixed my problem right off. Keep up the good work!!!!!

It's a simple utility, but it did NOTHING to fix a subtle audio problem I have with one of my videos though. :-( Needs more work.

Easy to use and it's free. But that's the end of the positive features. Rarely does it properly fix files. I often find it to make the MPEG file worse or ENTIRELY unreadable, whereas the source would only be partially destroyed or partially readable. On the 15 or so times I tried it out, it just made a mess. I usually just re-encode the source file with TMPGenc and hope it works. It does most of the time. Forget about this thing. It must only be able to fix a few specific errors.
