Very dated now, but useful nonetheless. I've also seen very little/marginal quality differences at higher bitrates between using either its inbuilt Xvid version or x264 build(which I don't rate that much or it could be the profile settings?), especially after inputting NTSC dvd iso images. So I prefer the sharper more filmic image of Xvid for relatives' dvd players rather than this washed out over smooth x264 version.

I mostly agree with the previous comment that Staxrip is the way to go, but a bit of a strong learning curve. Hybrid is another good one, but not for dummies. Handbrake is the happy medium as it's freeware too. That said Fu Wizard can still hold its own with dvd as that medium is surprisingly not dying out just yet. Look how vinyl has made a comeback and vhs. Old but not obsolete! Only thing holding back Fairuse Wizard would be whether or not it works in Win 10/11? Also you are restricted to iso inputs only, which is annoying.

Hi Guys, in it's day it was a wonderful program, and it really did hold it's own for so long even after development stopped. However programs like Ripbot264 is far superior in nearly everyway, and if you need more customizable power, then Staxrip is another one to go for.

But again, as great as FUW was, it really should not be used anymore, it's..... dead.

Only use it for H264, as Fu Wizard still outputs really nice encodes. The suggested aspect resolutions often don't match the source dvd iso and I wish FU could be set for strict anamorphic encoding like Handbrake does, but not a huge problem as the quality is great.

Review by L.Mitchell on Dec 17, 2023 Version: 3D R2 OS: Windows 8 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

This is still super quality software. I made some fantastic looking H264 encodes using the presets. Its Xvid build outputs quality encodes too, if you want to use it, but most prefer newer codecs as I do. Love the sleek GUI.

If only as others have said before, its development had continued to allow H265 output or FU Wizard could be improved so it could encode from hard drive folders or just files like mkv as input. It would be perfect even more! Maybe someone could carry on the mantle?
