It used to be a good program, until they made it adware--non-functional adware, at that! It asks for lots of personal information, then a bug in the program insists I'm not 18 years old and says I'm not "eligible" for the incentive/offer and refuses to install the program. Completely and utterly useless. It's a shame, because it used to work great.

Hmm. Doesn't appear to do anything. I select input file, then select output directory, then press check & repair, I see a green status bar moving rapidly, I check output directory and there is no new "repaired" file. Tried different output directory, and no new file. VLC still says avi broken. Maybe it is because I didn't fill out the survey the other program graciously popped up on my desktop. I have since deleted both programs and am scanning with Kaspersky to see if I now have adware, as well as telling Kaspersky to block any attempts at these programs trying to run themselves. Will look elsewhere for a repair tool that actually does something.

Now comes bundled with tracking program, "RelevantKnowledge." The installer claims it's OK, but a quick search on Google turns up comments like, "may monitor your Internet habits and activities and display various surveys in popup windows," "it brings up tons of IE boxes with a site for anti virus (no i don't click on anything) created links to the sites on my desk top, and put an 'anti-virus' tool bar on my IE" and "RelevantKnowledge monitors your Internet surfing, by routing your Internet activities through their service and logging information about the web pages that you visit and the actions that you take." You have the opportunity to cancel before it installs the tracker. In short, DVR is no longer freeware and should be considered adware.

Had a broken AVI file which I couldn't open. Tried many programs including VirtualDub & Avidemux. Came across this and it worked first time. File opened in Windows Media Player - no problems. Recommended.

Worked great to save several home movies from my casio exlim that got mysteriously corrupted and would freeze my computer when loaded in most other applications. Thank you!

Tried three different repair tools before finding this one. They were all shareware but none of them fixed the file I had that was damaged. I tried this and it was very easy to use and walla, it fixed my file straight away. EXCELLENT STUFF! Keep up the good work.

This tool is very useful for fixing incomplete AVI files downloaded on emule. If it's unseekable it'll fix that, if it's incomplete it'll fix that too. The only downside is you must have the first part of the file, otherwise it can't read it. Certainly a very useful tool though.
