Running an XP VM for most of my video/audio work. DVD43 worked instantly and seamlessly to permit region free processing. Only thing I do not like is that it puts itself into the startup menu. Unless you are doing DVD work constantly it's better to just run it from a shortcut when you need it.

Sadly it doesn't work on Windows 7 64 bit systems. This is unfortunate for the author as more and more machines will go 64 bit in the future. Rumour has it the author is not interested in upgrading it to work on 64 bit systems. Hope these rumours are wrong as it is an excellent tool. Especially in Australia where 25% of the population was born overseas and consequently DVD's from various motherlands abound. Most DVD players and TV's (in Australia) are multisystem so why not DVDROMS?

Just wanted to thank previous contributors. All I wanted to do was to view DVD's from Region 1 on my (UK) laptop. I visited a number of frightening techie sites and was thinking about just buying the european versions of the DVD's instead, but your reassuring comments and detailed stuff about why some people had experienced problems gave me the conficdence to do it.

Specifically, I saw no feedback on the use of this tool with Windows 7, since it's only been out a few weeks. I tried it and it worked first time. Many thanks. (For those wanting a bit more detail, it's a Dell laptop with a Hitachi HL-DT-STDVD +- RW GSA-S10N DVD drive. Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate. My DVD's played with the Dell Media Player. (I didn't try any others.)

Update to my previous comment. It seems the problem is with an Avast update which has since been corrected. see this thread
