DVD43 |
DVD43Free is a small, free tool that integrates into Windows XP/2000/Vista and overrides DVD-Video copy-protection and DVD Region limitations. Try AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter if DVD43 wont work.

Great app, works well but upon uninstall my 2 dvd drives dissapeared and had to do a resistry fix to get them back.

works great. WinDVD platinum 7 kept asking me to change regions for the DVD player when i pressed play, even when the disc was region 1 and the player said it was set to region 1. It just asked over and over. I installed DVD43 and the problem disappeared. Great program - v3.9.0.0

Hmmm... Followed the detailed description from The_Captain17: No luck. Al my players (InterVideo WinDVD, WinMediaplayer, RealPlayer, etc.) kept asking for change of region. Even though I got the green smiley in my sys.bay. Good idea -- even though the driver-util and the sw itself should be packed together -- and it doesn't work on my 'puter.

I installed the new version. Not much in the way of changes. Works great. I would suggest not having another decrypter program running while this is on. There really is no need to, but I've heard (and from comments below seen) people have had them running together. Many decrypter programs tend to conflict each other when simultaneously running. Not sure why, but they just do. If you want to use DVD Decrypter to burn the disc, shut down DVD43 first. DVD43 runs in the background and On-The-Fly. I've found that using DVD Shrink to Rip the disc works well. I typically use DVD Decrypter to burn discs, but found Nero and several other softwares work just as well. Also, for the sake of nice clean burns, I always suggest shutting down any and all programs when you run your burn software (including disable your screensaver and adjust your power settings to be always on). Some burn softwares and DVD burners are sensitive to these other tasks running and will give you some pretty botched jobs. My advice is just let then burn happen and come back when its done.

I was always one of the biggest supporters of DVD43 but I kept hearing that he wasn't going to have time to update it again so I finally switched to ANYDVD....I have to admit I still like DVD43, but until I find out whether he is going to update more I am stuck with AnyDVD. D

Works perfectly for me with 1 tiny exception. On certain DVDs (Mostly WB) If I use DVD Decrypter I need to turn off either DVD43 or change the settings in DVD Decrypter to no remove the copy protection. I think both programs are attempting to crack the encryption at the same time. Causes my system to freeze and reboot. This problem does not happen if I only let one of either program handle the CSS cracking.

I wanted to back up a few Region 3 discs [my drive is Region 1], but didn't want to change the region of my drive and didn't want to risk flashing the firmware. DVD Region Killer didn't work for me [perhaps because my drive isn't region free, but not sure], and this program did the job perfectly. I just popped in the DVD, watched the little smiley do his thing, and ran it through DVD Shrink. Bam! Successful Region 3 --> All Region backup, without the risk a messing with BIOS [I have no idea what I'm doing in DOS.]

Excellent peice of software. Its easy to use, just load it up then it sits in the tray. It works, it does what it says and the best thing is its free.

DVD43 has worked well in the past for me, however with this version and the latest Nero upgrade, whenever I try to access a CD or DVD, I get a memory dump and a system crash. When I remove DVD43, Nero operates properly. DVD seems to work well with all other programs I have.

This little software is neat, but it works only half of the time for me. I tested it with a dozen legit original DVDs, all from the same video series from the same publisher, all region 3 discs, but this program somehow couldn't even detect the existence of half of those discs. For the discs that were detected, it worked perfectly. Anyway given it is a freeware it doesn't hurt to try for yourself.

Will not work with my version of Clone DVD - tried on 6 different PC's. Oh, well, back to using DVD Decrypter first.

BEWARE: There is another version of DVD43 in circulation (ver 2) that is NOT FREE and expires after 30 days - it stops working and points you to a website to buy a third party product. If you have Version 2, uninstall it and install DVD43 1.4 using one of the links at http://dvd43.com/

Never had a problem with this superb little program. Works great with DVD2ONE. Recommended!

This is a beautiful software. Must have Patin Coufin Access Layer or it doesn't work properly. It also has to be running to work. Some people do not think it's working as it is a background running program. You'll only get a little window that shows how many drives you have and how many discs its removing the CSS protection from. If you don't see the little smiley in the icon tray, it's not on or working. Seems to work best with 321 Studios products @ www.321studios.com like DVD-X-Copy and DVD-X-TREME.

Program appeared to install and initialize properly with a protected DVD. CloneDVD would not read the DVD however, due to copy protection.

This works great with 1 Click DVD Copy. Very easy to use if you follow the above directions.

Really happy I downloaded. I understand the comments on some who said dvd "froze". I did have this prob at first...but here's some reflection on my exp with POWER DVD: Install the hatin-putin driver thing, as directed, and restart. Then, Install DVD43. Restart. Then put a dvd in your drive. If power DVD starts up close it. If it starts and "jams"...close it, using the task manager if u have to. I suggest starting with a dvd from your "original region" 1st. With DVD43 active (smiley in lower-right), place DVD in drive. U should see it turn from a yellow "neutral expression" face to a green smiley. If it turns into a "devil face", your DVD program is still on, trying to block your dvd or detect the region. Close your dvd program (i recomend starting your DVD program, mine is Pow DVD, in a window mode, NOT FULL SCREEN, so you can see the DVD43 smiley indicator. If the smiley is a GREEN HAPPY FACE at this point, go ahead and start your DVD program, it should be fine. If you are going to put in another DVD from a diff region, again, TURN OFF (close) your DVD program first. The smiley will go yellow again, and then do same proceeedure, put in disk, wait for smiley to go green, then start your DVD program. This small hassle (turning off/closing your dvd player to switch regions) is WELL WORTH IT. You can't beat the price. I am an American living in Czech republic, and brought several DVDs with me from the states, while buying some here also. My dvd player will TECHNICALLY let me switch regions only 5 times, so this program has saved my butt. I used several new Region 1 (usa) DVDs such as HBOs "Sopranos" and bought some brand new (also HBO productions) "Band of Brothers" DVDs...which in theory should have the same kind of dycriptions on them...and they all worked perfectly. In a nutshell, you may have to tinker a bit at first, but thats it. Just don't try to switch regions while your player is actually active, if you switch regions be sure to turn off your player first. I hope this helps anyone who uses this software. This is great stuff and I was worried about trying to use "firmware" on my drive, this is a super solution for free. Thanks. The Capt

i searched,i found,i downloaded,i installed I'M VERY HAPPY!!!

It works for Windows 2000/XP and NOT just (XP only) as it says in the description. It'll never work with win98 that's all. Patin-Couffin driver is free so this is a 100% freeware solution for on-the-fly decryption. Works with Nero Recode2 and DVD2ONE in my testing. Didn't work, however, with Elby CloneDVD.

Does what it says in the pop-up note. I downloaded and installed the new access layer as above. Rebooted and installed the program - Worked perfectly with PowerDVD 6 - Win XP Home - on a Hitachi Laptop drive. I tested it with High Fidelity Region 1 and Terminator 2 region 2 --- no problems.....

Works fine for me on XP. Nice free altenative to anydvd or DVD region-free. Not many options.
|

Installation goes well however it "locks" all my CD-ROM, CDRW and DVD-RW drive. They don't read any disks. Removing the software solved the problem . I do have Patin-Couffin access layer.

This DVD43 does not work. My system is a Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz OS:XP Pro

You can download only Patin-Couffin access layer directly from CopyToDVD authors Patin-Couffin Installer/Remover or go to their website http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm
