DVD2one V2.4.2 (October 14, 2011) Hide changelog Increased maximum output size (was 4 times DL). Fixed OS-X Lion crash on edit of disk name. Fixed missing first chapter on titles from discs made with Panasonic DVR (thanks Ron!).Relaxed the video, audio and subtitle attributes comparison for the seamless join to only compare the essential attributes. This should solve some cases in which the seamless join of multiple discs failed. Both letter-boxed and pan&scan representation of a widescreen DVD on a 4:3 TV is now always allowed. These video attributes are also not compared anymore for the seamless join. DVD2one V2.4.1 (July 12, 2010) * Audio Remaster engine again up to 2 times faster. This makes the engine up to 6 times faster than before! * Increased max multiplier value to 128. * Increased the batch list size to 50. DVD2one V2.4.0 (August 25, 2009) * New Audio Remaster features: o Engine up to 3 times faster. o New apodizing function for improved sound quality. o Move songs up and down in the songlist. * Mac: OS-X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) compatible. * Several other small fixes. DVD2one V2.3.0 (September 16, 2008) * New option for movie-only and join mode: Target. This option defines what type of output files will be created: o DVD Player: this is the default target and will create a dvd-video fileset that will play on any dvd player. o Media Player: this will output a single VOB file which should play on most media players. o PS3 USB HDD: this is a special mode for creating a single VOB file that will play directly from an USB Hard Disk Drive on the PS3. It does essentially the same as target Media Player, but the output size is automatically limited to 4GB. Also special warnings are displayed for audio and subtitle tracks that can not be played from the XMB. Please read manual for more info. * New advanced option: support for dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB: o The extra data is place in the 9th VOB file (thanks to Blutach for the idea!). o This option can be used to create large joins for re-encoding with other tools. o The output plays perfectly fine with Apple DVD player, VLC, PowerDVD and Media Player Classic. o Please note that dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB are not compliant and may not work properly with other 3rd party tools or dvd players. * Fixed incorrect error message when the default output location does not exist (thanks to Aaron for the tip!). * Mac: made work-around for transparency bug in panels on OS-X Leopard (10.5). DVD2one V2.2.2 (August 4, 2008) * With Audio Remaster you can now master MP1 and MP2 encoded files on DVD. This is for instance useful if you have DVB radio recordings. * Mac: added support for packages in folder browser (like .dvdmedia). * Fixed Hungarian language. DVD2one V2.1.4 (February 13, 2008) * PC: Fixed priority setting. * PC: Added manifest for XP controls. * PC burnengine: Added disk insert notification disabling and support for +R DL. * Mac: Fixed handling of burn -6 error. * Remember burnimage path for 'Burn DVD-image' menu option. * Remember drivename in case there are more than 1 writers. * Changed way empty cells are automatically removed from cell list in movie-only mode. * Added full disc scan for full disc mode. This might help when the output size is too big or too small. * Added Polish language (thanks to Maciej Bojakowski). * Removed hostname lookup from startup to avoid possible delay (thanks to Jim Hoyt for the tip!). DVD2one V2.1.3 (June 11, 2007) * Added Latvian language. * PC: Fixed reading the volume name if there is no parent folder. * Mac: Fixed writing to network drives. Added exception handler pool release in main and implemented new thread handling. * Mac: Changed wave file input for AudioRemaster from QuickTime to own wave library to support 96kHz files. DVD2one V2.1.1 (December 14, 2006) * Mac: Fixed problem running DVD2oneX on OS-X 10.3.9. * Updated German language. DVD2one V2.1.0 (December 6, 2006) * Added much requested feature: batchprocessing ! Now you can program up to 15 disks to be processed one after another without user intervention. * Added check for filesystem of destination drive. FAT32 can only hold up to 4Gb per file, and this is just not enough for a typical single layer image. DVD2one V2.0.6 (September 28, 2006) * Added Chinese (traditional) language. * Added requested option to change the process priority of the program. Now you can set DVD2one as a background process, so that you can work more easily on your system (ofcourse processing will take more time). * Fixed small problem on the Mac: a corrupted preference file could make DVD2oneX crash at startup. DVD2one V2.0.5 (May 18, 2006) * Changed the way how is determined which titles are shown in movie-only and join mode. This solves the problem with 'Gooische Vrouwen' of which only the 1st episode was shown (thanks to John van Zanten). * Fixed problem that empty IFO files made DVD2one crash. This solves the problem with MTR V3.0 build 13d (thanks to David Peller). * Corrected error message when no cells were selected for a title. Thursday March 9, 2006 DVD2one V2.0.4 * Languages added: Hungarian (thanks to Fitos Zoltan) and Swedish (thanks to Christer Carlsson). * Fixed a small problem: Corrupted headers in the video stream could crash DVD2one (thanks again to forum member NinjaSteve). * Changed the way mastering errors are handled in full disc copy mode: Instead of giving an error message and stop processing, now the errors are corrected and a warning will be displayed after processing. * Added option for fixed destination directory. * Mac: Disabled a compiler option that caused DVD2oneX not to run on a G3. DVD2one V2.0.3 Thursday February 2, 2006 * Language added: Korean (thanks to Taewon Yun). * Fixed small issue with default enabled audio and subtitle track (the tracks marked with *). * Fixed problem with missing audio tracks in full disc copy (thanks to forum member NinjaSteve). * Changed the way error conditions caused by corrupted data in source are handled. * Added automatic language selection for the user interface on first startup. * Increased program speed by rewriting core bit reading and writing routines and by improving the best quality mode processing routine: o PC: 30% faster (test movie from 11:38 to 8:55 on Pentium-M 1.2Ghz). o Mac: 43% faster (test movie from 12:02 to 8:25 on dual G5 2GHz). o The PC core bit reading and writing routines were already more optimized than the Mac versions, hence the difference. o Speed increase may ofcourse vary on different computer configurations and with different movies. * PC: Fixed problem with Japanse symbols (kanji) in directories when output type is 'File Set'. The CreateDir function had not been updated in the previous release. * Mac: Universal Binary with native Intel and PowerPC versions. Native Intel code gives 2 times speedup compared to running PowerPC version on Rosetta. DVD2one V2.0.2 Monday January 9, 2006 * Languages added: French (thanks to Antoine Desir), German (thanks to Sascha Lamprecht), Italian (thanks to Bruno Vella), Portugese (thanks to Marco Pinto) and Spanish (thanks to Fernando Conde). * Nice icons to tree added. * Mac: fixed missing system menu on OS-X 10.4. * Mac: compiled again with GCC4. Panther users need at least OS-X 3.9 for this release. * PC: fixed problem with special characters and Japanse symbols (kanji) in directory- and filenames. Only the Audio Remaster part does not handle Japanese symbols. DVD2one V1.5.2 released Wednesday 2 February, 20 * Added checks to verify the consistency of structures in the IFO files and to correct them if necessary. This solves problems with movie-only copy of Alien Quadrilogy. * Added program chain analysis to detect and remove damaged parts of the DVD for ARccOS disks like Resident Evil Apocalypse, The Forgotten, Little Black Book, The Grudge and Wrestlemania. * Improved IFO rebuilding for full disk copy and relaxed the error handling. If possible the IFO structures are corrected instead of giving an error message and aborting processing. * Improved layer-break removal for full disk copy and layer-break detection for movie-only. Version 1.5.1 (August 20, 2004) Added Chinese and Greek language Updated German language Version 1.5.0 (July 11, 2004) New compression engine, the selective ratio engine Removed the imcomplete language's files (contact us to contribute your language) Added Czech langauge Version 1.4.0 (December 22, 2003) Added cell/chapter/layer selection for movie-only and join mode. Split a long movie over 2 disks using layer selection in movie-only mode. Compile 'best-of' clips disks using cell/chapter selection in the join mode. Changed input file IO for movie-only and join mode to random access based on IFO files. This improves speed considerably in combination with the new cell/chapter/layer selection. It also speeds up selection of one title from a vobset containing multiple titles. Added check to verify whether the VOB files match with the IFO files. This avoids possible strange and unpredictable behavior of the program. It also avoids incorrect destination size calculation in case the IFO and VOB files do not match. Fixed a small bug in the seamless join of a titles with multiple angles. Fixed the problem that an illegal value in the Audio Info field in the IFO file could crash the program. Version 1.3.0 (September 5, 2003) Added a powerful new copy mode: the join mode. You can read all about it on this page. Added default audio and subtitle selection for movie-only and join mode. Just doubleclick on the row to select that language as default. Added a special feature for join mode to navigate through the different titlesets. Just in case your dvd player does not feature a disk navigator itself. Fixed a small problem in the compression ratio calculation, which could affect the destination size estimation of the variable ratio mode. Version 1.2.3 (July 13, 2003) Solved the 'memory allocation' problem that some people were experiencing with V1.2.2. Version 1.2.2 (July 8, 2003) Optimized reading of vob files, by using less system resources: Windows is now better accessable when DVD2one is running, it's not 'locked' anymore. DVD2one is even faster now! Version 1.2.1 (June 27, 2003) Fixed the problem with the font that was introduced by adding support for Japanese language. Added a setting to select the start screen. Version 1.2.0 (June 18, 2003) New engine with constant compression ratio for better image quality in long movies (2 1/2 hours and more). Pre-scanning of files for better estimation of destination size in Full Disk Copy mode. Detection of encrypted data is now restricted to the data DVD2one actually uses. This should prevent this error to pop up on homebrew dvd's and unprotected originals. Removal of unused padding data in the videostream. Japanese translation added for all honoured Japanese customers. Works only with Windows 2000 and XP. Version 1.1.3 (April 22, 2003) Improved the layer break removal in the full disk copy. This should solve problems with menus. Version 1.1.2 (April 9, 2003) Added soundtrack selection for main feature in full disk copy mode. Region code (not RCE), user prohibition and 'layer break bit' are now removed from the full disk copy. Version 1.1.1 (March 20, 2003) Fixed a very small bug in the new compression ratio function, which could cause the program to crash. Version 1.1.0 (March 20, 2003) Full disk copy mode added. Please note that the image quality will be less than when you use movie-only copymode, because there is more data to copy and also all soundtracks will be included. New system to calculate the compression ratio. This should keep the image quality more stable. Improved the progress bar. It should run continuously now for all movies. Added detection that you try to read directly from a protected DVD. Version 1.0.2 (February 19, 2003) Improved the registration code input window to solve the problems with the new registration code. Version 1.0.1 (February 18, 2003) Fixed some small issues with the IFO files. This should fix the following problems: Trial version didn't work correctly with Sony DVD players. Some players had problems with NTSC/PAL mix in the IFO. Some players stutter on the point of the original layer break when 'layer break bit' is set. Added much asked feature to choose the destination size. Added multi-language support (thanks to everybody who made the translations!). Added support for CopyToDVD. After processing the result can be directly written to DVD±R(W). This will automatically deliver a 100% compliant DVD-Video disk, no need to worry about proper settings, directory, file and disk names. You can buy CopyToDVD here. CopyToDVD is made by VSO. New registration code system. The code from V1.0.0 will not work with this release. To get a new code, just go to the download page, fill in your email address in the box and press Send New Code. Version 1.0.0 (January 23, 2003) The first public release. All features / Full description: # Unique video compression engine: combines blazing speed with the highest quality.

Version 2.0.0 is buggy. Especially the burning features are not mature. -RW discs are not recognized by Windows as packet writing is used. DVDDecrypter can read the discs but you can not play them. Crashed a few times writing DVD-R. Burning speed is not a choice. Choked on one longer movie and said that compression is more than 70% and wouldn't continue. Compression is slow compared to 1.5.2. Version 1.5.2 is still superior to 2.0.0. in conjunction with CopyDVD. I also would suggest that the program should have the option of burning with a mature burning engine from DVDDecrypter or ImgBurn.

Used with AnyDVD, this combo works great & produces results in 30 minutes. GUI is still a bit awkward & "vague" - kind of wish the option terminoloy was a little more direct, but being multilanguage, there will always be some issues like this - no biggie. Not sure if I like the gui rewrite, looks wise, but the app seems to work well & as advertised

Version 1.5 could open VIDEO_TS folder on hdd, this version cant. I get an error message "not valid DVD fileset".
It froze up my dvd burner. I uninstalled it and went back to the programs that work like Shrink and Clone. It stinks.

I’ve been a long time user of DVD2One, three things drew me to this program, functionality, quality of transcoded picture and the program size. Granted, it wasn’t loaded down with pretty graphics and other system resource hogging eye candy, it just worked every time with the same high quality output. Now version 2 came out and again I say WOW, I can’t believe they packed more features in this gem and the program size is still under 500 kbs. My favorite new feature is transcoding directly into an ISO image. Since this version is a complete rewrite with many new features, I found a 40% savings was a very nice incentive for upgrading. If you are looking for something rock solid, light on system resources, works every time and produces high quality output, this one is for you. Super program!

Ditto. Wulf109 pretty much said it for me too. I may have to consider DVDFab Express, at least they include a ripper and lifetime upgrades.
I'm a registered user of DVD2ONE,I think I bought the day it came out. It was the first DVD transcode program. Save your money. This is no improvement. First it no longer supports Windows 98 or ME. It still doesn't change the ifo file to reflect the audio streams you actually saved. It still gives you no control over subtitle streams. It still gives you no control over bitrate allocation. It still has no preview window. It seems no faster. I resent being asked to pay again for shareware I've already paid for. I'll keep using version 152 when I use DVD2ONE. It does have a new cute XP interface.

This program works pretty good even with movies that are arcos protected, what you gotta do is when you reach the section where you select which cells or chapters you want to process, look through them and likely you will see the first few will be 0.00 in length and probably around 31mb, all you gotta do is deselect those chapters and then the program will work fine.
Recoding as in "Nero Recode" not recording.
I wouldn't really call it a recording utility. It is a transcoding utility. You are correct in saying that the files need to be decrypted first. But even with the updated DVD Decrypter which handles the ArccOs encryption DVD2one will fail. You can look at their web site where they are working on it. I love the program too but wish they would get this updated.
Boldego, correct me if I am wrong, DVD2ONE is a recoding utility not a decrypting utility like DVDDecrypter or DVDShrink which does both. DVD2ONE needs to have decrypted or non-encrypted files to work properly.
Im not sure if Sky captain has the ArccOS protection but if has, I used DVD2one on it and had no problems at all. I live by this program.
This program is useless with ArccOS protection. They seem to be a little slow in updating the program.

Using selective ratio set to high gives excellent results when squeezing 7-8Gb DVDs down to 4.7Gb. Far better than the old variable ratio & beats all others I've tested (DVDshrink, Nero, InterVideo DVD Copy). Give it a try !
trail is useless, processes only 30 minutes of video.
Used new selective ratio (high) on 8GB DVD's and it works excellent, no comp;aints here.
I tried the new selective ratio and it sucks. I backed up "Justice League: Starcrossed" I did one with the trusty variable setting and 2 with the new selective ratio low and med. The selective ratios gave me more artifacts than the variable setting. I'm comparing the output with PowerDVD on a monitor during a specified action scene. I have no idea what it looks like on a regular TV have to try that later. I'll be sticking with the tried and true variable setting.

Been Using DVD2One since Version 1.0, I love this transcoder, It is one of the few which supports multiple instances without sucking up all system resources. I have encountered a couple DVD's which I have had issues with, Goodfellas, Inspector Gadget 2, and Barbershop 2. But I have used this to do 1000+ other movies with no problems. This is a program I will stand behind. -compbuilders2002-

I don't know if its just me, but since using the new feature in the latest 1.5 release, I have yet to see pixelation, or even the slight blur around the edges of some movement I used to get, thats checking the TV from about 1 foot away though !! I'm using the new 'Selective Ratio' feature set to 'high' and also still squeeze 2 movies per DVD, regardless of the time of the movie, unless its over 160minutes Much better output. Its clearer, crisper, and still takes about the same amount of time to transcode Like I said , unless its my eyes ....... Maybe time for another updated real world test against the more well used transcoders to see if the new features have actually made a difference ??

I have been using dvd2one since version 1.01, to my present version 1.40 and there is really nothing out there that can match it for quality of the encoding and ease of use. I have tried DVD Shrink, all versions to compare with dvd2one with some of the most challenging dvd movies out there, for example; Aliens, Phantom Menace, Last Samuria. all of these dvd's suffered bad macro blocking in important parts of the movie after using Dvd Shrink, and Pinnacle instant copy. I have spent endless hours comparing the results of dvd2one with the other transcoders that are available, and still dvd2one 1.40 is the best quality transcodes, i have found that even on long movies over 2 hours the variable mode is the best overall quality. Until another program can beat dvd2one for quality, ( i don't include Cinema Craft for obvious reasons ) i gotta stick with Dvd2one. Hope this is useful to some of you out there.

I recently transferred Apocalypse Now Redux with a Run Time: 202 minutes on to a 4.7 DVD-R and it looks fantastic. I was quite surprised to see a 202 minute movie work out so well on a single layer DVD-R
Besides being a good transcoder, this one will work in the 98Lite Micro/Sleek environment unlike DVDShrink 2.xx-3.xx. This was the deciding factor for me in purchasing this program. In cunjunction with DVDecryptor and Nero this turns out high quality backups.

I currently use DVD2one 1.4, DVD43 (a freeware product similar to Anydvd) and CopytoDvd 2.4. This combination gives me a great one click solution to backing up DVD's. The major advantage is that DVD2one is so damn fast compared to DVDshrink (using deep analysis) - although the DVD2one/CopytoDvd combo does cost some money (but not that much really). DVDshrink coupled with Nero or DVDdecrypter is also a great one click solution, but I really like DVD2one's speed and simple interface. (On my 66cm widescreen TV I cannot tell the difference between DVDshrink and DVD2one). I recently used DVD2one 1.4 to put my Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Extended edition) on to a single 4.7G DVD+R. The result was superb (on my setup anyway)!
have used it in the past and present with mixed results. recently backup up a large movie (can't recall which but was 7.8 Gs for the main movie) and the output as viewed on my PC with PowerDVD5 was definitely SOFTER than Shrink 3.0beta5 with DA. what i like about DVD2One is it is very fast even on my ancient system. so to view which output i like (Shrink vs. One) is convenient. Other times in the past One's output was pretty much identical to Shrink's. Never has the output been better than Shrink's though, IMHO.
Good quality backups especially on higher compressions.
