DVD2AVI |
A good MPEG2 decoder tool for converting and frameserving MPEG2/DVD to AVI/VCD/SVCD. Or get DGMPGDec, based on DVD2AVI.

This app is basically outdated now... although it still works, it has known issues (dropping frames being the most common) and it can cause problems with A/V synch among other things. Highly recommended to use DGMPGDec instead, which is the same program with a bunch of bug fixes.

This is the tool that I use to encode DVD to DivX, it work wonderfull. Some guys say that this tool is the best to frameserving, but, it is too slow to encode to DivX framserving virtualdub, I really not know why some people use this tool in that way. Just encode video to DivX and extract the audio to Wav, then, with virtual dub you can encode that wav file to MP3 and multiplex those streams. This is the SIMPLIEST, and FASTER way to make a DivX movie from a DVD... and the image quality is awesome!

Great great tool. Use version release 1.76 for best results. If you are into ripping DVD, encoding DivX, XviD, etc. This is a must get.

Audio and video are WAY out of synch after conversion. Pass this one by.
