DGPulldown |
This program takes a progressive MPEG2 video elementary stream, and applies pulldown flags to change it to a higher legal MPEG2 output frame rate. DGPulldown is useful for applying traditional 3:2 pulldown. It is also useful for converting 25fps PAL progressive material to NTSC. It allows you to encode your movie to MPEG2 at 25fps using progressive encoding.

Version history:
DGPulldown Version 1.0.11 View entire changelog The latest released version is 1.0.11. This version fixes the drop frame option. The option was ignored and so only the auto mode worked. It was not possible to enable or disable drop frame using the 3-state checkbox. Sponsored tools: Guides and How to's:

I used to use this all the time when I ran Windows. Now that I've moved to Mac OS X, I have yet to find a replacement. I now have to reencode the file which takes much longer, and degrades the video. Someone please port this!

Very simple program that allows you to convert between formats without changing framerate. Very helpful to avoid synchronization problems with audio and subtitles, reduces the work to almost nothing.

For laspis59 who wants DGPulldown to do 29.97->25- It'll never happen. 29.97fps is almost always interlaced, and DGPulldown and Pulldown.exe are for progressive streams. Also, you can't run pulldown when the source framerate is greater than the destination framerate. If the source was originally progressive film, then IVTC first before going 23.976-?25. If the source is 29.97fps interlacd, then you'll have to find other ways to do the conversion, all of them bad.

Very clever little app. Works great for applying 3:2 pulldown of progressive NTSC source (23.976 -> 29.976) or PAL-to-NTSC conversion. Simple, effective, does what it says. No need to be bloated. A must for anyone!
