CoreAVC is awesome and does everything I want/need, I just wish I could get it for free legally, instead of having to pay for it.
I have a rather slow CPU, an Intel D820 and a Nvidia GTS 450 video card. CoreAVC can really take advantage of my Nvidia GPU and the CPU utilization when playing 720p video is < 10% and 1080p is < 30%. When playing the same h.264 material, CoreAVC runs at less CPU than the DivX codec, which makes use of DVXA. CoreAVC works great with DVBViewer and MPC-HC. I am very satisfied.

It runs a little buggy on XP too. The 1st thing is that it has to be re-registered over and over again, because the registry entries seem to get faulty for some unknown reason. They put a small reg file to the program folder which does the job so they're obviously aware of that problem. The 2nd thing is that it tends to hang if used in conjunction with GPUs ( or at least with mine which is a GPU 2 on a GeForce 9500). Apart from that, if it does it's job it's a superb and fast AVC decoder - not even nearly worth the money, but still very good. ;)

I tried CoreAVC which is probably the most efficient decoder BUT IT DOESN'T WORK ON WINDOWS 7. Despite their claims on their website, VISA Fraud found them GUILTY when I challenged them for a REFUND and they ignored all communication in addition to having bogus phone numbers.

Not sure what rellymax. problem is but I have no problems with playing MKV via this. I use it in conjuntion with MPV-HC work on my Atom with Cuda 100%

Works great with windows 7 64 with all files such as mp4,m2ts.ts,mkv,not sure what rallymax's issue is but it's not true in what he/she states.

Work great with Windows media center 7 x64 I had zero, zip, nada problem (bundle with: AC3filter, Haali splitter and CoreAVC) and you don't need anything else. Great tool

If you're on Windows 7 and simply want to play H.264 files in any container (.avi,.mov,.mp2,.mp4,.m2v,.m4v,.264 etc) except MKV then DON'T BUY THIS. IT DOESN'T WORK. THEY WON'T HONOR THIER REFUND POLICY. THEY ARE FRAUDULENTLY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. I am turning them over to VISA Credit Card Fraud protection. It works great on XP and earlier but with the new media engine on Win7 they won't do what's necessary to be the primary player. They are committing fraud because their marketing makes absolutely no mention that it ONLY works with MKV files.

From my experience this is a great codec for those who have a PC that is slightly to moderately underpowered to play full HD videos. I have an HTPC and it could play a 720p video without any problems but with a 1080p the video would constantly pause every 5 seconds although the audio would play fine. I thought it was a configuration issue with my video card or motherboard so I updated drivers, settings, etc to no avail. I remembered seeing this codec on this site, installed it a and my 1080 videos are fine now! Definitely worth the money AMD 2.2Ghz X2 939 2GB Ram nVidia 7600GS 256 WD 640GB 7200rpm

Does not work properly with Hauppauge-generated 1080i H.264 files. It works fine if you don't try to reposition Windows Media Player's slider, but once you do the video becomes choppy, as if it's skipping frames trying to find IDR frames (which the Hauppauge files do not have). If you then stop and restart at the beginning, then the file plays fine and CPU utilization is low (at most 50% of one 2.9GHz dual core). Forget about any "support", too (and I have the Pro version). I opened a high priority ticket detailing my problem a week ago and it has not been updated. "support" is all style and no substance. Very disappointing.

This codec is really good. With this codec I can finally play HD videos without any problems. I have the following system: * AMD Athlon XP3000+ (2.16Ghz) * Memory: 512 MB * NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 128 MB It plays everything fluently, but CPU usage varries. While playing 720p x264 with AC3 audio. - CPU usage is at 30% in full screen WMP 11. - CPU usage is at 12% in full screen with WMP 6.4. While playing 1080p x264 with ac3 audio. - CPU usage is at 98/99% in full screen WMP 11. - CPU usage is at 95/97% in full screen with WMP 6.4. For quicktime HD trailers I had to install Quicktime alternative, and rename the file to .hdmov for it to play via directshow.

I don't know if this decoder is really worth it. I did 2 comparisons on my laptop (it has a Celeron-M 1.3GHz and a 1024x768 LCD), it is not that much faster than FFDshow Tryout Beta 4: * 704x400 resolution: 35% average CPU load for CoreAVC, 39% for FFDshow. * 1024x576 resolution: 47% for CoreAVC, 56% for FFDshow. Both videos have around 1000kbps average bitrate. It may be useful for people who get too close to 80% average load w/ FFDshow though. That way they could avoid skipped frames and stuttering...
Those who have slow computers like me will notice the largest difference. I have a 933MHz PIII-M laptop (see profile), and using it in combination with Media Player Classic was the only way to play some of the videos on Azureus smoothly.
CoreAVC is a winner. You know all of those Apple 1080p trailers you've stuttered through on your system? Not any longer. Even my 2.4Ghz P4 can now play HD Resolution h264 without hesitation. As much as I love FFDshow for its Swiss Army Knife of playback codecs, CoreAVC has eclipsed everyone in performance when it comes to h264. You'll get the best results by far if you install it with Haali Media splitter.
