Codec Sniper |
Codec Sniper is a tool that shows all of the Directshow, video and audio codecs on your system. There is a column that says whether the codec is "OK", or "Broken". You can delete any codecs that you know are old or that you don't need.

Same for me. It showed an error message in German (which I don't understand) - with an address so maybe it was an out of bounds error. Then it opened with a screen with sort of like spreadsheet 'boxes' but nothing in them. That was it. All I could do was switch it off. I think it is suss. I didn't know Gspot did the same thing. I'll use it.

I tried to remove an adaptec DV codec with it. It removed it from the list alright, but a quick system search revealed that none of the adaptec files were removed from system. However, I selected 'codec_sniper.exe' and pressed delete, and that worked fine.

Worked fine for me. Everytime you remove a codec it sounds a "head shot" in a deep voice. Nice effect for a program called Codec Sniper.

Nice idea but it all it does is give an error message in German and then opens with no codecs visible. Gspot works just fine on the same system.
