EditReady 22.4
As the year ends, we're excited to ship our fourth major update to EditReady. Since the EditReady team joined Hedge just over a year ago, we’ve added lots of new RAW formats - RED, ARRI, CanonRAW, Sony X-OCN, and ProRes RAW.

At the same time, we've added Color Awareness - our log color science engine that makes working with RAW just as easy as any other format. Through it all, we've made sure to keep the simple interface and blazing-fast speed you've come to expect from EditReady. You seem to notice our renewed efforts, as we’ve seen an inpouring of feedback since 🙏

80/20
Over the last decade, we’ve done a lot to make EditReady the go-to transcoder for video professionals. Heaps of features and improvements were added that were useful to about anyone, plus all those RAW formats this year. As we looked at our roadmap for the coming year, it became clear that many of the remaining feature requests are starting to create a bit of tension - while making a lot of sense, they are only useful to a subset of the EditReady customer base.

Per the Hedge philosophy, features should always cater to 80% of its user base. Many of those upcoming features however, are for the 20%. Adding those features to EditReady would only add complexity and cost for those not needing it. We want to be able to focus on both ease of use, speed, and help our pro users with complex workflow needs. This is why we've decided to make three versions of EditReady, each tailor-made for different needs.

Timecode and more...
EditReady will continue to be the world’s fastest, easiest-to-use transcoder for video pros. To this end, we focused our last release of the year on quality-of-life improvements.

EditReady 22.4 adds the often-requested option to map file creation dates to timecode metadata. If you get footage from a DSLR or mirrorless stills cam that doesn't write timecode, you can now fake a time of day timecode track by using the file’s creation date.

We've also added RED anamorphic support, improved the stability and speed of ARRIRAW playback and transcodes, and added 100p to the retiming tool.

Phantom CineRAW
The brand-new EditReady Pro will focus on niche camera support and using EditReady as part of multi-app workflows. We're shipping EditReady Pro 22.4 today with support for Phantom CineRAW. It supports playback and transcoding of Phantom files to ProRes or DNxHD with the push of a button. High-speed proxies, made quickly and easily.

We have a lot more planned for 2023, and we're excited that a Pro tier opens up the possibility of adding some of the recurring feature requests that we’ve been wanting to build for a long time, but didn’t have a good place in the regular EditReady.

As with Hedge Pro, upgrading an existing EditReady license is easy and affordable.

EditReady Server
Lastly, we're pre-releasing a new EditReady Server. It's meant for use in headless workflows like automated ingest, proxy generation for asset managers, and more. EditReady Server integrates perfectly with Iconik’s Storage Gateway (ISG), making it the most affordable and easiest to use automated ingest solution for iconik.

EditReady 2.6

This version of EditReady removes Apple’s legacy QuickTime framework in order to make the app fully 64bit. This will remove warning dialogs that periodically appeared when launching EditReady. All legacy codecs natively supported by quicktime will continue to be supported by our FFmpeg fallback pipeline. If you had installed 3rd party codecs to support additional formats, and you find they no longer work in 2.6, please contact us at support@divergentmedia.com.

EditReady 2.1.3 provides a number of fixes and enhancements. The full change list is below. We've done a major rewrite of our colorspace handling. You should see better fallbacks for non-traditional colorspace combinations (such as DSLRs shooting rec709 with 601 primaries), and newer wide color and HDR formats. If you are mid production, you may want to confirm that newly transcoded footage matches footage from prior releases of ER before moving to this release.

EditReady 2.0 is a major, exciting new release of EditReady. We’ve added some of the most-requested features, and have an exciting roadmap for the future.

ClipWrap 2.6.4
is an exciting update and is recommended for all users. This version adds the ability to assign a reel name to a batch of clips. This reel name will be passed to various NLEs (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X) and will be prepended to the clip filenames. To enable this functionality, check the "Show Advanced Settings" box within the ClipWrap Preferences.

This version will also alert you if ClipWrap detects problematic QuickTime codecs installed on your Mac. For more information on this functionality, visit our Codec Support page.
