Great app for what it does. What it does: 1.Very simple CD/DVD burning: Burn iso's/audio CD 2.Ripping: The best cd ripper out there pretty much. It's fairly old so now it only helps with cd-checks and safedisk1/2, PSX, older copy protections, audio CD stuff. But for that, it's the best out there because it makes images in the most compatible format, .bin/cue. From there you can anything with them, mount/burn/edit with any app u like. Most "Release" groups use this to make the iso's. Actualy with recent games, it makes no sense as it can't defeat Securom5/Safedisc 3/etc.. so plain .ISO/crack would make more sense. However, I recently use it to backup old scratched up disks that won't work anymore, and more often then not.. IT WORKS! Where most apps can't rip scratched disk, it can. It has the best error correction around for that. Even with some error's the raw format still defeat cd-checks. Also for copying PSX, perfect 1:1 copies.

old school app sure, but still one of the best .. supports CD+G (Karaoke) like non others , and has a great bunch of tools included. also - contrary to one of the other comments - it does support DVD-R and is not based around freeware either ....

Oh dear, a trip down Nostalgia Lane, cant believe they are still developing CDRWin. This software was prominent in 1999 for one reason only - it was the only thing that could copy audio/games/console discs in a quick and troublefree manner. It filled a 'niche' in the market. Fast forward 5 years and its shortcomings are obvious if you take the trouble to install it. Did you know that CDRWin is built on freeware apps? All Goldenhawk did was stick a GUI on the front and hey presto! A cash cow. But, if you want reliable software, you're not fussy and your burning needs are strictly limited, then please choose CDRWin, otherwise use something more modern.

It also does not support burning DVD-R. Although they said it would be included in a future release, I have waited a couple of months and still there has been no update to support DVD-R. I have basically stopped using this software because of that.

CDRWin is one of the old school CD burning programs and still one that is worth having in your arsenal of programs. The developers of this program created the CUE/BIN image format that is probably one of the best supported image formats over multiple platforms (though not without issues). In the days before programs like CloneCD, this was the cream of the crop in terms of making reliable DAO (disc at once) copies. At present, CDRWin is probably no longer useful as a general burning program but the various tools it contains are still VERY useful. This includes the ability to make CUE/BIN images of existing CDs. The trial version of CDRWin can do this without limitation and CDRWin remains the best program for creating CUE/BIN images. The reason you may need to do this include creating an image for processing with VCDImager/VCDxRIP, mounting it with Daemon-Tools as a virtual CD or creating an image that you intend to patch (e.g., back-ups of PSX games). CDRWin is also probably the best program for burning CUE/BIN images but with freeware alternatives like CDRDAO, it is probably no longer worth the registration price (though I leave it up to you).
