In reply to isapc's comments. I have a GTX 280, your 285 is hardly a quantum leap in performance, not a cheap video card. Batch encoding using the opening Badaboom multiple times would be a nuisance... 1. Performance is impared running concurrently obviously. 2. Encoding different episodes from the same disc or image will be named the same, meaning you have to create multiple folders and them rename them manually afterwards (very tedious). 3. The speed with which Badaboom encodes a single TV episode means by the time you've fiddled about making extra folders, renaming and whatnot, the first encode has finished. However, I concede that it would be useful if you were encoding several movie sized videos at once and could leave the computer unattended for a while. Batch encoding is important, you may be dismissive of it but other programs and users make frequent use of it. As for audio being out of sync, try the different profiles on a few different videos and you will see what I mean. That being said, I switched over to Windows 7 64bit a few days ago and I have yet to see an audio sync problem, this may or may not be a fluke.

I dont use Badaboom for VOB files just BLURAY . I read alot of silly comments by people with cheap video cards. I have a GTX 285, no batch encoding who cares open badaboom 2 or 3 times transcode 2 or 3 bluray movies at once no syc problems and alot faster than my Core 7 doing it at 6300 kbps.

Although Badaboom is exceptionally easy to use and very fast, however I find it hard to recommend to anyone other than a novice. Probably best suited to people who want to convert video over to a mobile device, iPod, iPad, Console etc with minimum fuss. PROS: Fast Easy to use Superb video quality CONS: No batch encoding, so converting your DVD TV series boxsets is a tedious excercise Only encodes to H264 Audio frequently out of sync, yet the identical profile will convert a different episode perfectly (odd)

i don't know what the other guys are complaining about, i just downloaded the demo fro version 1.2 and overall really like this app. currently running an E7400 (dual core pernryn based, 3mb L2) coupled with a sparkle 9400 gt 512mb gddr2 and using this app i can transcode a 1280x720 mkv to 960x540 mp4 at 2950 kb/s avc (can't get the slider to stay on 3 mb/s, more on that below) and with audio at 128 kb/s ac3 and it averages about 15 fps. using alternate solutions such as tmpg express 4, no matter if i use x264 or main concept's avc i can't get anywhere near those speeds and tmpg express is very well optimized for sse4, which the E7400 supports. i also tried avidemux with x264 and with similar settings i was lucky to see encoding at 8 fps sustained. now it's true that the first public version of this app was horrible, the quality of the encode was atrocious but that is no longer the case, i compared the final output of this software with that of cyberlink's espresso and power director 7 (

I am glad that I tried before buying. The reason I rate it so poorly is that there are many freeware apps that can do the same or better in nearly all respects. Also, the product description is misleading. I was expecting a significant increase in encoding speed but found that it was actually slower and the encoding results were not better. CUDA sounds like a great idea and maybe it is but Badaboom does live up to the hype.

finding lots of bugs. mainly getting the bitrate to stick on encode. if certain setting(ie ref frames is set to fixed 3) the bitrate wont even come close to your chosen.(ie 8000kbs chosen results in a less than 2000kbps render) thats my only problem so far...other than that great speed at somewhat of a quality loss.

The specs and system requirements for Badaboom simply say that any CUDA enabled NVIDIA graphics card will work and that means that the conversion should be fast. I also have a GT 9600, which does full HD quite nicely. If Badaboom requires very high end video cards then it should state that. Badaboom is significantly slower than what I can do with other software (freeware and payware) apps. Do not let the $30 price fool you, this software is simply not worth any money when compared to the many freeware apps that can do much better. BTW the reviewer below is wrong about the GT9600, it is 256bit and not 128.

I like badaboom A couple of points though.You need a decent nvidia card like a gts265(Badaboom processing 448 bit) 9600 or 8500"s are to slow (Badaboom processing 128 bit) and dont support profile 1.3 as far as dvi or hdmi are concerned and arnt that good at HD play back.You also need a large screen that supports profile 1.3.Using badaboom is a lot quicker than my quad core,And is one of the only ones that lets me input anything.With bluray just use tsmuxer to rip it to your hard drive throw it in badaboom(main profile 6000 bit rate)good video good audio 2 hours. My quad core cant match that.20 gigs down to about 5 works for me.Sorry if you have a ATI card.

Like the previous reviewer I found Badaboom to be slow and quite limited. I have a 9550 Quad and a NVidia GT9600 and Badaboom was much slower than anything else I tried.

So this claims to speed up the conversion process-Well, using the 3000 bit rate I use in megui, I get blockiness using the xbox, playstation and media center output. Plus I get about 6 frames per second encoding on my dual core with this program..Megui I get about 18 fps encoding and much cleaner results..Tested on bluray MTS file..Megui is free, this is $29....The freebie offers better quality and faster encode times..Its a no brainer. I am running an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT--
