@ epsilonalpha: VfW applications like VirtualDub cannot use ffdshow or LAV Audio for direct AAC decoding, therefore an ACM interface is "mandatory".

And the comment below me is the definition of dumb. Still, I don't see why I would want to use this over ffdshow or lavaudio.

A codec that cannot encode. This is by definition a unique piece of software. Bravo!

HE-AAC is correctly identified and played for MKVs and FLVs in VirtualDub. For AVI files, HE-AAC still is played-back at half-speed. So the best option is, always use "normal" AAC streams in AVI files (OR remux these to MKVs, if the goal is to reencode them with VirtualDub).

It works perfectly with most HE-AAC and HE-AACv2 files.

Minor con: HE-AAC is played at half-speed. Major pro: IT WORKS! No sync/seeking issues in VirtualDub.
