I tried two free versions, both on Windows 10, DLNA working fine.
I miss these options really so I am moving away.
Since it's freeware and since other people out there may have less expectations or be so new to such matters they do not care, they may be fine, so rating 'overall': '4' stars.

Installation is a breeze.
Like the manual. It's well-written and geared towards novice users of such technologies.
What I miss:
- poor or no subtitle support (.srt file placed in same folder, same name as video file, working on Smart TV and Blu-Ray player, yet not working streamed through Nero; works using Plex Media Server, same LAN)
- my library's folders display all in one level, there's no real 'mirroring' of the actual HDD storage
- transcodes videos without exception into mpeg2 (??) in the days when simple configuring would make it easy to stream device compliant files without a transcode)
- in transcodes there's one audio track only
- no fast forwarding possible

Nero is among the best when it comes to burning or transcoding, but this is not the media server for me.

Review by nbarzgar on Oct 20, 2019 Version: 2019 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 3/10 Value for money: 9/10 Overall: 4/10

sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn`t. sometimes it shows the ip address for devices and sometimes it says everything is offline even tho the device is on. went to nero help page and it was no help because there is no information on their help page about this problem. from other post about nero i don`t expect to much help from the online chat either.

Review by dwgb5 on Aug 8, 2010 Version: 4.5.2.0 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 5/10 Functionality: 5/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 5/10

I purchased Nero Media home 4 on 12 february. I could not get any of the web enabled TV fetures to work. it did stream vido from my pc to my PS3 but it took a long time to load. I emailed Nero support. and they said it was working normally. I then tried PS3 Media server which works great. and i emailed NERO again asking for a refund since the product was not working properly for me. they said they could not give a refund after the serial had been emailed. don't buy it

Review by bryant70b on Mar 4, 2010 Version: 4.4.26.3 OS: Vista 64-bit Ease of use: 1/10 Functionality: 1/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

I have only used it for about a day but so far I have noticed that it does function as described except for one thing, i have been unable to utilize the internet tv function. I gave it a 5 for value because PS3 Media Server is free and has all the same functions except for TV streaming and internet TV.

I could not get it to work right with Windows 7. When set to transcode to mp3, they play at 2x speed and sound like the chipmunks. A request for help from the publisher (Nero) just got an e-mail reply saying the software is not windows 7 compatible. The essential version came with my LG BD390. I bought the full version thinking it would handle more codec, no joy, wasted my money.
