|AutoX264 is a cross platform application (avaiable for windows and linux) that use mencoder for encoding with x264 codec. It uses/requires mencoder, mplayer, mkvmerge and MP4Box.

Thx for this great tool. I was first bit confused, because autox264 did not seem to open some files... ("cannot found file/device") I found out that they were the ones with scandic letters. Not big problem though.
