Video Clarity Issues

You have to re-shoot.

That's quite possibly the case

Some of it can be fixed in post, but if your source isn't good...as the saying goes, you can't polish a turd.

Example of bad post production (terrible interlacing artifacts, macroblocks, etc)

avi to mp4, quality of picture made better or worse?

So when I use PS3 Video 9 to convert .avi to .mp4, does this improve the quality if I use the 1080p profile or does it stay the same or get worse?

At best it appears to stay the same (i.e., visually no different). At worst, you will see a difference, and perhaps a great difference.

You say nothing at all about your source. If you convert ...

That may be but the unit I inherited from a friend who got out of tape a few years ago has never eaten a tape. Probably because I had the entire mechanical section replaced at the time I got it by the last of the Sony factory trained techs in the city. He was meticulous in making the repairs and the deck worked flawlessly up to a couple weeks ago w...

We have no idea of your intentions, budget or desire to learn?

If budget is large, best money spent is hire someone experienced to do it.

If you want to learn, start small and add when your experience requires it.

Best starting place is a community college production course. Use their equipment. Short of that, buy a used DV format camera c...

HDMI Problem !!!

I think it is the 1080p RGB 60 Hz issue which has much higher data rate vs. HDTV.

Is the HDMI cable v1.3 rated? Try a different cable or a shorter cable. Otherwise it is probably the TV. You could also try a lower resolution like 1680x1050. The highest supported VESA resolution listed for the TV is 1360 x 768.

200 movies will likely fit on a 1.5 or 2.0 TB hard drive without any additional compression. I find a lot of movies won't play properly when ripped as full disc ISO images (menu navigation doesn't work). I'd rip as main movie only. For TV episodes I'd rip each episode as a single VOB.

Thanks for that jagabo. I've tried a few other options b...

Film prints can differ. In the TV version, perhaps a scene was shortened or extended. (Blade Runner is a good example.) Telecine speeds (especially with PAL and NTSC differences) can vary. TV networks can employ time compression or expansion to make a film fit a certain time slot. So you see, there can be a lot of factors to deal with.

fix Mp4 (Mov) files - binary/hex code

My camera (SANYO) crashed and all MP4 files were transformed into 2 files each, one big file .MOV and one small (256ko each) .MP4.
All 256ko MP4 are working but black (5s black film), but all MOV appear to be corrupted.

I'd like to fix the binary code (binary/hex code) with HEX editor because I found nothing working on the files.
