I updated the VCD to DVD guide, removed the tmpgenc audio converting because Ulead Moviefactory can both convert and burn. Moviefactory will only convert the audio to standard dvd audio and not the video part.

Tired of using several different tools to convert your dual layer DVD-9s to one recordable DVD+-R/W? Then try DVD2ONE, it transcodes your DVD-9 to one recordable DVD(DVD-5) in 15-30 minutes, including several audio tracks and subtitles. But it does not keep the menus or extra video material and the video quality may not be the best(these features will be added and improved in future versions). You can download the DVD2ONE demo here. Discuss DVD2ONE here.
Baldrick - Jan 27 06:43

DVDSplit is a new DVD rip tool from the creator of Ifoedit, it helps you to split DVD-9 to two DVD±R/Ws. It also includes a burn utility to directly burn DVDs(it requires Nero). DVDXCopy is another all-in-one DVD-Video to DVD±R/Ws rip utility, note that it also does split to two DVD±R/Ws if it doesn't fit on one DVD±R/W. Both tools are kinda new so they may not work perfect yet and they are NOT free. Remember that you can do most of these stuff using free tools like Ifoedit, DVDDecrypter but it may be a bit more tricky.

I added 3 new features to our DVD Player list, MPEG1/2 ISO , DVD/VCR Combo and DivX4+ support. MPEG1/2 ISO is if your DVD Player can play MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring like select MPEG files from the CD/DVD using a file browser. DVD/VCR Combo is pretty self-explanatory and DivX also. One of the first soon to be released standalone DVD Player with DivX 4+ support is the Kiss DP-450. Remember that the list is user based which means that YOU have to report about all features.
Baldrick - Oct 07 08:09

We have made a new list, a DVD Recordable Media list, a list with dvd brands and information such as where to get them (cheapest), manufacturer id(some brands may be same but with different manufacturer names) and also some dvd players compatibility linked directly to our dvd players list. The list is user-based such as most our "lists", it means that you have to post new media brands and also post comments like where to get them cheapest and also some compatibility information, but we will try to check all new dvd media posted. The list does only support dvd-r media so far but dvd-rw and also dvd+r,dvd+rw will be added later. All data that you post will be saved even if it is a beta (not tests posts though).

I hope that I can easily transfer all posts and users from phpbb to vbulletin but it will probably take some days to fix. The phpbb forum will be online as long as it doesn't crash and I may close it for testing some times also.
Baldrick - May 29 02:20
After weeks of problems with the forum have I finally found what caused it to crash randomly. So now should it not crash so frequently anymore...I hope...:)
Baldrick - May 27 14:47
The latest active topics on the main page(to the right here->) is temporarily closed but the forum is working.
Baldrick - May 27 07:08
"To VCDhelp members, it has recently been brought to my attention that DVD Wizard is selling MY guide as an Ebook! for those of you who paid, you just paid money for a free guide! and that was ripped badly as well!..." - Sefy. Read more here.
Baldrick - May 26 14:26
The server crashed but it is up and running again.
Baldrick - May 24 19:35
Forum updated and running...if you notice any bugs please post them here.
Baldrick - May 23 12:50
Forum temporily down because I'm upgrading it.
Baldrick - May 23 11:01
I have moved the forum to www.vcdhelp.com/forum to test it on another server so you have to login again if you used automaticaly login. And email "reply-notification" is temporarily offline in the forum because email won't work on this server.
Baldrick - May 22 07:32
We still have forum server problems. It doesn't seem to any software that cause it to crash so it may be the hardware and if so it will take longer to fix.
Baldrick - May 22 03:49
I'm testing some new settings on our forum server so the forum may behave a bit strange today.
Baldrick - May 20 13:55
VCDEasy v1.1.0 is released, lots of bugfixes and from now you will find VCDEasy on the new official www.vcdeasy.org site.

And our forum has died again but we are working on it.

Baldrick - May 19 03:58
Forum up and running.
Baldrick - May 18 10:15
The forum server that hosts our forum and also some guides is dead again. But it will be back online really soon as I have requested a restart. We have no idea why it crashes yet, everything works perfect until it dies and the logs doesn't show any errors that may cause it...
Baldrick - May 18 05:47
Made a new forum section for all you Linux VCD,SVCD,DVD Creators.
Baldrick - May 16 09:27
Updated the TMPGEnc VCD,SVCD, DVD guides and also the DivX to VCD all-in-one guide, added more info about the Video arrange method so you can either select if you want the source aspect ratio(widescreen, fullscreen) to be same as the source or change from example widescreen to fullscreen(cut it).
Baldrick - May 15 11:07
I made the DVD Hacks list a bit nicer looking, easier to view reported hacks. Add region code or macrovision hacks here.
Baldrick - May 14 17:55
We have made a new section for both newbie beginners guides, like all-in-one guides, and articles, like tmpgenc explained, called NEWBIE. I and hopefully with help some of our forum users hope to make some more articles, for example about what capture card to get? dvd-rw or dvd+r? vcd, svcd or dvd?...You are also welcome to post your articles in the user guide forum and I will link to it from the newbie article section.
Baldrick - May 14 11:54
I added more search feature options in the DVD Players list such as built in DTS,DD, DVD-Changer, Kodak PhotoCD.
Baldrick - May 14 11:54
I splitted up the How to put VCD and SVCD on DVDR to two guides to not confuse the methods with each other, How to put VCD MPEG1 on DVDR and How to put SVCD MPEG2 on DVDR.
Baldrick - May 11 05:39
Forum works as it should again.
Baldrick - May 09 07:45
We have some strange forum problems again but we are working it...the forum should work but is a bit slow.
Baldrick - May 09 05:17
Everything in our DVD Player list that is in the color blue have been "verified" and is 99,9% correct, for example the Pioneer DV-444. All other compatibility and features are automatically generated based on all user reports. I will try to "verify" as many players as I can, mostly the main features because I don't know all compatibilitiy problems. If you wanna help "verify" players you are welcome to contact me...
Baldrick - May 08 08:43
I have put together some new samples first a DVD NTSC Sample, it is a NTSC DVD with 3 video samples, a dolby digital trailer, a VCD MPEG sample authored as DVD(DVD-VCD), a SVCD MPEG2 sample authored as DVD(DVD-SVCD) and also with a simple menu. You can both burn it on a DVD-R/RW/+R/+RW and also as a miniDVD/cDVD to test. I also have added both a XVCD and a XSVCD sample BUT because of bandwidth problem have I limit the downloads to only 100 downloads a day for each file(it is about 130 GB bandwidth a month...) so you may have to try a while before it work. If you would have some free webspace over, about 50 MB, with no bandwidth limit contact me.
Baldrick - May 07 08:22
I have added some new features to the DVD Players list such as Kodak Image/JPG, Dolby Digital, DTS, SACD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Changer, CVD or SVCD Subs, MP3 and WMA CBR or VBR(all features will soon also be searchable). But it requires that you report about the features. I will try to add features to the most common players but far from all 900 players...
Baldrick - May 06 00:31
I added so you can search on DVD+R in the DVD Players list. But please note that lots of the DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD-RW/DVD+RW reports are still not that reliable because of both confusion between the formats and also problems regarding authoring and burning the dvdrs correctly.
Baldrick - May 02 13:52
You can now easily post your computer details under your Profile in our Forum. If you provide your main computer details it will help all members to answer your questions, no need to ask about what your setup is all the time. To view the computer details you either just point over the computer details link and you will see the info or just click on it to view it under the users profile. Read more here.
Baldrick - May 02 12:06
TMPGenc 2.54a is out, Bug Fix - Could not read audio properly if specific external VFAPI plug-in was used.
Baldrick - May 02 09:09
I updated the TMPGEnc DivX/AVI to SVCD and TMPGEnc DivX/AVI to DVD guides, with the Wizard SVCD and DVD encoding becomes much easier(automatic average bitrate calculation). I also updated the DivX/AVI to VCD guide using the Wizard and with source range cutting.
Baldrick - May 01 08:07

The version 2.54 of TMPGenc is out! The new features are small but still interesting:

  • New "Cut Editing" feature has been added.
  • At source range window, "[" key can be used for "Set start frame", "]" key can be used for "Set end frame" command.
  • Vertical line Ghost can be reduced with new Ghost filter.
  • At MPEG setting dialog, several settings can be locked/unlocked.
  • Improved bitrate calculation : better result can be expected even if the number of frames in last GOP is fewer than usual.
  • Bug fix : Invalid MPEG-2 file was created if vertical resolution is not multiple of 32 (which is not within MPEG-2 standard).
  • Bug fix : Under Windows XP, closing "Marge & Cut" window caused memory access error.

Michael - May 01 07:14
If you have a Dazzle 2 Capture Card you may like the Dazzle2 Stream/Header fixer. From now you can also download Stinky's ATI AIW MMC 7.5 and 7.6 reg tools under the Tools->Capture section.
Baldrick - Apr 27 05:40
The free MPEG2 Codec is available for download again.
Baldrick - Apr 27 05:39
Sefy's latest Complete DVD Backup guides are updated, you find them here and under the DVD Ripping section. You can also find Sefys guides over at Kwag´s new site www.kvcd.net and also at digital-digest.com.
Baldrick - Apr 25 09:29
I and lots of other vcdhelp forum members have received a lots of viruses lately, more than usual, especially the klez virus so I beg to all you out there DO NOT RUN OR OPEN ANY FILES YOU GET IN YOUR EMAIL even if it is from your friends. If you don't open any email attachments you should be free from viruses but it is best to also install a good antivirus application, enable email-checking and remember to keep it up to date. Some have also got viruses from our vcdhelp emails but most of them comes from strange email-servers that only uses our emails as email-replys(check the headers in the email from IP it really came from).

Addition from Michael: If you are using Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0 I highy recommend to download a security fix from Microsoft. In the unpatched version of Outlook 5.0 the attachment may be automatically executed. For information about removing an already executed virus see here.

Baldrick - Apr 24 16:12
Our DVD Players, Capture Card and DVD Writers user report/comment forms haven´t worked as they should lately, it worked sometimes and some not but it should now always work.

I'm also working on to add some new features to the DVD Players list, like
  • Dolby decoder integrated
  • DTS decoder integrated
  • Region code/Macrovision can be disabled by software
  • DVD changer
  • JPG/Kodak image support
  • WMA support
  • Support for long MP3/WMA filenames

  • Please note that the features will the users report about so we can of course NOT guarantee that the info is correct similiar to the compatibility issues. But we may check the most common brands too see that the features are correct. Contact me if you have any more new features and ideas I can add to the DVD Players list.

    Baldrick - Apr 24 07:31
I, baldrick@vcdhelp.com, have been away two weeks so I have tons of email to answer(also admin@vcdhelp.com emails) and I also have lots of stuff to update and fix like Sefys new guides and fix some downloads like VCDEasy, the MPEG2 Codec. It will take some time so be patient.
    Baldrick - Apr 23 13:16
The forum is up and running again, the problem was that the harddrive partition that the forum databases were located on had filled up.
    Baldrick - Apr 18 03:34
Our forum section is temporarliy down but it will be up in some hours (when our forum webproviders get to work...).
    Baldrick - Apr 17 14:20
If you get any annoying popup banners on our site you use vcdhelper.com and not vcdhelp.com so please update your bookmarks to vcdhelp.com or svcdhelp.com or dvdrhelp.com(all our sites while vcdhelper is not).
    Baldrick - Apr 17 13:16
My email, baldrick@vcdhelp.com and also admin@vcdhelp.com, has been down some hours and if you have sent anything you probably got a "Mail delivery failed..." but it should work now. Please also note that I and the others under the contact page do not have time to answer all emails, especially not the ones where it only says like How do I convert an avi to vcd?(please try to first check our site before emailing and also try to include more info about your problems we are not psychic!) or How do I format in MAC? or How do I copy PSX 2 Games? (our site is about VIDEO).
    Baldrick - Apr 16 03:04
For owners like me of Pinnacle TV Cards is something great avialable. Pinnacle Systems released version 5.0 of the drivers which comes with many improvements like better Windows XP support and realtime Mpeg2 capturing (Fullversion only). So, do not wait and just download them!
    Michael - Apr 15 10:16
If you are using Nero and burning authored DVD-Video be sure to upgrade to latest Nero 5.5.8.0 because it should now fully support DVD-Video burning. Read here how to burn DVD-Video with Nero.
    Baldrick - Apr 05 15:40
We have serious problems with our new forum server(as you probably have noticed the last days) and we have no idea why it crashes now and then yet...but at least is the new forum way faster than the old one.
    Baldrick - Apr 05 02:23
    Forum up.
    Baldrick - Apr 04 17:55
The forum is temporarily down again(!).
    Baldrick - Apr 04 10:11
Forum is up and running again.
    Baldrick - Apr 02 06:03
The Forum is temporarily down but the DVD Players compatibility list is back online after some problems(win2k server...).
    Baldrick - Apr 02 04:19
Our site may be down on March 28th from 3am - 7am (US MST GMT-7) because of maintenance by our ISP.
    Baldrick - Mar 27 15:57
VCDEasy v1.0.9 is out, read whats new here.
    Baldrick - Mar 23 03:40
The article about our meeting with Mr. Hori is online now. Press here.
    Michael - Mar 22 06:42
We have had some problem with the forum (again!) the last days but it should work a bit better and faster now. I have also removed about 30000 old posts, all topics older than 6 months and also a lots of topics with no replies. If you miss some old "important" topic that may have got deleted just email me and I can get it back from the backup.
    Baldrick - Mar 20 08:45
Yesterday I visited the CeBit in Hannover (Germany). There I had a meeting with a very important person: Mr. Hiroyuki Hori (Developer of TMPGEnc). So I had the unique chance to ask everything about TMPGEnc and see the latest version. Except a big article of this meeting and other great stuff from the CeBit about the latest developments in DVD-Burning and so on.
    Michael - Mar 17 06:05
Thanks a lot for reporting useless dvd player compatibiliy reports! It helps a lot when I clean the compatibily list. One note though, the rating 0 in all our list is actually no rating but I have replaced it with "No rate" so it should not cause any problem anymore.
    Baldrick - Mar 13 09:47
I removed about 8000 old forum users that registered before June 2001 and only have posted once or never to free some usernames. If you were one of those you have to register again.
    Baldrick - Mar 13 07:04
Please help us keep the DVD Players list correct. If you find any user-reports that seems to be entirely wrong or the user only bad-mouthing the dvd player, for example reports that nothing works, then please click on the report this post link so we can remove such reports.
    Baldrick - Mar 10 10:44
Our Forum is back online, you have to relogin if you had automatic login because the forum is on a new server and a new address, forum.vcdhelp.com. The Forum Search function is also back online and I created a hardware forum section where you find the old Hardware Playing forum, now called DVD Players and new forum for CD and DVD Writers and also about standalone VCD and DVD Recorders.
    Baldrick - Mar 06 18:16
The forum will hopefully be back online at the end if this week if everything works okey with our new webprovider. And note that we don't publish new software releases on this site(except for some software that we host), there are already tons of such great pages like mpegx.com.
    Baldrick - Mar 06 11:35
The Forum will be back online in some days(preliminary wednesday) on a new faster server so it should be a lot faster than before.
    Baldrick - Mar 04 13:07
I enabled the User guides section in our forum.
    Baldrick - Mar 02 05:09
Our forum will be closed for a while as we still have some server problems, some other sections such as the dvdplayers list will be online but they may not work perfect but just reload or try to visit our site in the morning instead(us time).
I'm also trying to find a new server only for our forum to reduce the traffic on the main server, if you have a linux/freebsd server(p3/athlon 600+, 512+MB mem) that is not used that much contact me. Some daily stats for the forum, about 2-4 GB Daily transfer(~100GB a month), 333 000 daily accessses, 12000 daily unique visitors. In exchange you can have your banner(s) on our site, no banners at all or whatever.

    Baldrick - Mar 01 05:57
Forum back online on the main server but some features such as search will be offline until we have upgraded the server or we get the new forum server working.
    Baldrick - Feb 27 05:28
The forum may be a bit slow and wierd today and tomorrow because I'm testing it on a new server.
    Baldrick - Feb 26 17:36
Our site is back online after some server problems(it was down the entire weeekend).
    Baldrick - Feb 26 07:12
I added some new DVD Writers and two DVD standalone recorders to the DVD Writers Feature and Comments list. If you are interested in maintaining the dvd writers list, adding, updating writers and removing "crap" comments, then contact me.
    Baldrick - Feb 21 11:44
VCDEasy v1.0.8 Fixed is out, read here what is new and download here.
    Baldrick - Feb 21 06:28
I cleaned up the Capture Cards list a bit, removed over 20 double names and added some new capture cards such as ADS Instant DVD and Snazzi III so you can share your comments about them.
    Baldrick - Feb 18 11:03
Sefy has updated his Classical Newbie DVD Ripping Guide to version 2.0, it now includes the entire process from ripping to burning only using freeware tools. And Michael has written a short comparison article between MPEG1, 2, 3 and MPEG4, How does MPEG work?.
    Baldrick - Feb 17 06:11
VCDEasy does NOT contain any virus, read more here.
    Baldrick - Feb 14 17:21
I, Baldrick at vcdhelp.com, will not answer all emails anymore as you probably already have noticed, it just takes too much time but I will try to answer some but please always use our forum first.
    Baldrick - Feb 14 17:21
Some daily webstatistics, first from February 11th:
    46,325 unique visitors,
    1,048,561 Page views,
    27,643,654,752 bytes transfered

    (no html compression added yet).
Compared to 3 months earlier, October 29th:
    25,342 unique visitors,
    341,315 Page views,
    7,296,439,913 bytes transfered

(html compression but forum not included).
Almost a 100% unique visitors increase for only 3 months is very much and to keep up with the webserver capacity is not that easy as you have noticed...

    Baldrick - Feb 14 11:51
I added another method to fool authoring tools to burn SVCD on DVDR, using AVestensione.
    Baldrick - Feb 08 12:57
The DVD Players compatibility list should work in Netscape 4.XX now.
    Baldrick - Feb 08 05:18
I have updated the forum with some new features and added some old from our old forum, the latest posts will now look similiar as it was before and I also added the "participation hack" so you can easily see what topics you have posted in(the small ME-icon but you must be logged in or else it wont work). You can now also post your own guides/how to's including images in our user guides forum. And last did I change so all users can vote instead of just the registered. If you notice any forums bugs please post them in the forum feedback forum or email me.
    Baldrick - Feb 07 17:46
Sefy has updated the CD ReWriters list with lots of new burners and a new table for 40x burners!.
    Baldrick - Feb 07 16:00
We still have some serious server problems some parts of the day as you probably have noticed, many pages does not load properly so you have to reload all the time. The main problem is that our server can't handle all the new traffic so we are looking for a new webhost only for our forum section. Email me if you either wanna help with a free webhost or in exchange for banners or if you know any good, cheap and reliable webhosts.
    Baldrick - Feb 04 09:34
I cleaned up the DVD Players compatibility list, removed over 80 DVD Player name duplicates and renamed some DVD Players so they will have similiar names like "Pioneer DV-XXX" or "Samsung DVD XXX". If you find some wrong names or duplicates please email me.
    Baldrick - Jan 29 18:30
The forum is back online but all posts and new users after January 26 until today(January 29) have been lost so if you have registered as a new user you must register again. The traffic becomes too high for our server between afternoon until evening (US Time) so I then have to close some parts of the site temporarily...but the posts that got lost was my fault, instead of making a backup I accidently imported an old backup.
    Baldrick - Jan 29 18:22
Our site may be a bit slow some parts of the day but we are working on it.
    Baldrick - Jan 29 07:11

A new version of TMPGenc is out. There are no big improvements but some nice bug fixes and new features:

    • At Project Wizard, user can specify bitrate. User can also change the
value by adjusting estimated file size of MPEG file.
    • More optimized encoding setting can be expected by selecting type of
source (Film, Video etc.) at Project Wizard.
    • TMPGEnc now judges field order automatically when a source is selected.
    • Bug fix : At Project Wizard, "Create another project(s) for batch encoding." did not work if same template as before is chosen.
    • Added "120 min DVD format" to Project Wizard.
    • Bug fix : parameters of CQVBR were not saved.
    • TMPGEnc is now able to create AVI file whose file extension is not ".avi".
    • "GOGO.DLL" is supported as external MP3 encoder.
    • Bug fix : TMPGEnc is now able to deal aspect ratio of a source whose resolution is 720 x 576 properly.
    • Improved operation when TMPGEnc automatically splits too long GOP into several pieces.
    • At MPEG setting, "Audio edit" has moved to "Audio" tab from "Advanced" tab.
    • Bug fix : Under Windows XP, TMPGEnc was not able to started with a user who do not have administration rights.

    Michael - Jan 28 12:56
Updated the Capture Card comments list also, all user comments will now directly be added.
    Baldrick - Jan 27 08:03
Updated the DVD Players list so you now exact can see what every user have reported that work or do not work, also each ones rating and as before the comments if any. And all user reports/comments will now directly be added to the list but not to the main compatibility list until they have been checked.
    Baldrick - Jan 26 19:47
Forum moved again but now should it work better then yesterday so you should not even notice it, you only may need to login again if you used automatically login.
    Baldrick - Jan 26 04:42
When adding DVD Player reports about VCD or SVCD compatibility be sure to test and report how menus, still items and chapters works. You find VCD samples with chapters, menus and stills here. When testing SVCD be sure to also test both CVD and SVCD selectable subtitles and if it supports several audio tracks. You can download SVCD samples here with CVD and SVCD selectable subs, menus, chapters and several audio tracks.
    Baldrick - Jan 25 10:35
This server couldn't handle the Forum so I moved it back to the dvdrhelp server.
    Baldrick - Jan 25 08:57
Moved back the forum to this main server, the old dvdrhelp.com forum will be online but it will automatically forward everything to vcdhelp.com. But if this server can't handle the forum traffic I will move it back...at the moment it looks like I have to do that, everything is very slooooow.
    Baldrick - Jan 25 05:35
Nicolas has updated the Video Desktop Recorder section.
    Baldrick - Jan 23 17:43
The DVD Writers section is done so please add your DVD Writers comments/reviews but there are only 3 Writers so far. Are you interested in helping maintaining the DVD Writers section, adding new writers/recorders, modifying compatibility, features and remove "crap" comments? Contact me then.
I'm also currently working to update the DVD Players list so you can view exact what every user have reported, every compatibility settings to the rating not just the comments.

    Baldrick - Jan 21 07:21
All our lists, the DVD Players compatibility, DVD Hacks and the Capture Cards list are now searchable and should be easier to browse. And I'm working on a new list, DVD (re)Writers, where you will be able to share your comments and it will show some main DVD features and compatibility.
    Baldrick - Jan 21 07:21
    >Some VCD and SVCD samples and some tools like VCDEasy and MPEG2 codec have been offline for some days but I have updated the links so they should work now.
    Baldrick - Jan 19 07:21
The upgraded Forum is online, report any new bugs to me.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 18
The forum will be closed some hours tonight(morning in europe/africa and afternoon in asia/australia) because I will upgrade it. The upgraded forum will hopefully be a bit faster and it also has some new nice features but it will basicly look the same. All users and posts will remain intact(hopefully) so you don't need to register again.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 17
Nicolas has tested and reviewed a Video Desktop Recorder the Terapin CD Video Recorder, you find more info about Desktop Recorders under the VCD Recorders section.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 17
We still have some server problems...the older server can't handle all traffic and the new freezes randomly now and then so. And I'm also currently trying to upgrade our forum to the latest phpBB 2.0 beta, it is a bit more optimized and has some new features.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 15
Forum search function reenabled again...but had to close it again due too high server load.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 14
VCDEasy v 1.0.7 has some bugfixes.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 12
We are sorry for that our site is down now and then but it isn't much we can do about it now. Our current server just can't keep up with the high traffic load but our webprovider is working on a new faster server that hopefully will be online in some days. And some have complained about that the DVD Players list misses lots of players but it doesn't you just have to click on the List All DVD Players to view them all, default is to view the latest 50 to keep down the traffic.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 10
Forum temporarily back online for testing.

The forum seems to work better now so I have renabled the search function also. I think I found the main problem that causing the forum server to crash, the banners...so the forum will be bannerfree for a while, I hope you can deal with that..:-)
    Baldrick - 2002 January 9
Updated the DVD Players compatibility/comments list with over 740 new user compatibility and comments reports, the list does now contain 881 DVD Players based on over 5500 user reports. Thanks! and please continue report how cd-r,cd-rw or the new dvd+rw,dvd-rw works or anything.
If you have reported after january 7 and you can't find it in the list then report again because I may have deleted some reports but remember that the report form is NOT for asking any questions about your player or how to make vcd/svcd/dvds.
And always remember to read the comments when browsing the list because even that it says that it support or not supports something it may cause problems or work better with different media or how you make the vcd/svcd/dvd.
And lastly does our main server have some problems so you may experience some trouble to access our site, I have to manually reboot it now and then to keep it going...
    Baldrick - 2002 January 9
Updated the DVD Hacks list with 250 new hacks and the Capture Cards with 270 new comments, thanks for all but PLEASE DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS using the report forms. I'm now struggeling with over 700 new dvd player reports so it will take some time...and I haven't been able to fix the database on this server so the lists will still be huge statics list that on some computer may cause the browser to hang.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 8
VCDEasy v1.0.6 is out and I have forgot to mention that you can find TMPGEnc 2.50 at www.tmpgenc.net (not tmpgenc.com) it now includes a wizard to simplify the encoding process.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 8
We have to close our forum temporarily because the forums webserver can't handle the high traffic but we are currently working on a new webserver so it will hopefully be up again really soon.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 8
I reenabled the search function on the forum and Nicolas has updated the VCD Recorders section.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 7
From now we won't mention new how to's/guides under this column because you will find them all under the Latest How To's just above here.

As you also can see above here do we list the latest added DVD Player compatibility, DVD Hack and Capture Card reports but they have not been updated for a while now but I'm currently trying a new server with database support that will make it much easier to keep them more up to date and it will also make them more user-friendly with search options and top lists(as it was before). Today I have to generate static htmls for every report on an other server and it is very very very very very very very very very time consuming.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 6
Now is the forum back online but I dont know for how long because I have to see what happens and if it would genarate the same error I have to shut it down again.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 4
We are aware that the forum and also the DVD Players report form, DVD Hacks report form and Capture Cards report form(all database stuff) are temporarily down but we are working to bring them back online as fast as possible.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 4
The main page should work now but our forum is temporarily closed now, our forum webprovider suddenly closed it because of some database problems and I have to fix that problems before they will enable it...but I have no clue what caused it because the forum has worked without any problems for nearly 2 months so it may take a while to fix.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 4
We have some temporarily technical difficulties with our servers at the moment but our webprovider is working on it and if everything goes well should it be back online really soon.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 3
    Happy New Year!!!

I have been away over the holidays so I haven't been able to answer any emails (all emails to baldrick@dvdrhelp.com or admin@dvdrhelp.com) and it will probably take some more days before I have answered them all as I'm currently working on our new database. With the new database I hope to bring back the DVD Players Compatibility list, DVD Hacks list and the Capture Card list to the old searchable format and also move our forum to a cheaper host so you might experience some problem with them the next few days.
    Baldrick - 2002 January 1
    Merry Christmas!
    Baldrick - 2001 December 24
I made a short new how to: How to put VCD MPEG on DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD+RW, on one DVD recordable disc you can store about 450 min VCD but it requires a bit of work to make it DVD compatible.
    Baldrick - 2001 December 21
Updated the DVD Players Compatibility list with over 450 new user reports(from only two weeks), lots of new DVD-R,DVD-RW and DVD+RW reports. Thanks! also thanks for all new feedback, we are working on to make the list easier to browse and add better search options and also maybe add more features. But please remember that the DVD Player report form is only for reporting compatibility issues and not for asking questions about the player.
The other "lists", DVD Hacks and Capture Cards comments list, will be updated as soon as we have fixed our new database (hopefully in some days but can take a week or two) but you can keep report DVD hacks and Capture comments anyway.
    Baldrick - 2001 December 20
Sefy has updated the CD ReWriter comparison list.
    Baldrick - 2001 December 17

    Baldrick - 2001 December 12
Arepiv has reviewed the Pinnacle Studio PC TV Rave TV and capture card.
I hope to bring back all lists to the old format where you could easily search by name or features or list by latest or top rated in a few days if I get the new database in order.
    Baldrick - 2001 December 11

Also note that our DVD Players list is user based and lots of the user reports compatibility issues differs a lot so be sure to read the comments for more info about each Player.
11-25 The forum is back online. A new guide also, How to make your own switchable SVCD Subtitles from scratch with I-Author Deluxe

11-14 The DVD Player Compatibiliy List is back online and you can now also add your own reports/comments again.

11-13 All images in all our guides will be offline until we moved to the new webserver.

10-31 All pages should work for everyone now. No more garbage pages...if you anyway would get a garbage page try reload the page and also remove the temporarily files and reload again.
10-31 If you get garbage on some of our pages try this in IE, select Tools->Internet Options->Advanced. Then tick the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections box. You may need to delete your temporary files so the browser won't reload the page that is in the cache. I hope this is just a temporarily solution.
10-30 If you get can't access or get garbage of most of our pages please email me directly and include what internet browser and operating system you are using. I'm testing compressed html pages but it doesnt seem to work so good on all browsers even though it should be supported.

10-27 Thanks for all tips what to do about the webhost problems and all donations but we like more ideas. I have opened ONE topic in the forum for discussion about this, you find it here or use email to contact us.
10-27 Our entire site was down from late yesterday until today, we don't know why yet...
10-26 Our site has become a little bit too popular, it generates too much traffic than our webprovider can handle, almost 1000 GB (1 TB!!!) for this month. So we have temporarily (or it might be permanent) closed down the biggest sections like the forum and the DVD Players compatibility lists and removed all larger files.

We are now then looking for new webhost solutions. You can help us by either donate or help us find a webhost, but remember that with such a high traffic as 1 TB/month it can be very very hard to find a websolution(extra data transfer often cost $2-$6 extra for each GB which means a cost of $2000-$6000 a month) so we can not guarantee anything even though you donate.

To donate visit our donate page.

If you can help us find a webhost or you have any ideas what we can do email me.
