How to convert DV to DivX or XviD using Virtualdub and other free software

This guide will describe the basic steps to convert DV to DivX or XviD using free software. You must configure a lot of settings but you will have full control of everything and you can also add optional filters to reduce noise and such. If you want something easier I would recommend Dr. DivX.

DVD to XviD Conversion using DVD2AVI,AviSynth,Virtualdub

This guide is to assist you in converting DVD to XviD. XviD is a freeware version of the MPEG-4 codec. It allows for excellent quality encodes at very low bitrates. You can typically place a full length movie onto one or sometimes two CD-R's, using full DVD resolutions.

doom9 Codec shoot-out 2003 - 2nd installment

Welcome to yet another codec comparison. It's been a while since the last one and a lot has happened, not all of it good (taking screenshots was a major pain in the ass.. I should charge 200 bucks an hour to do them in the future).
