Blu-ray to MKV with optional multi-language audio/subtitle support

Since the tools used in Blu Ray back-ups are updating so frequently, I figured another guide couldn't hurt. My personal philosophy on back-up copies is that if the original disc had it, I want to have it on the back-up (at least as far as the main movie is concerned.) With that in mind, I have written this guide with optional steps to include all the language (dubs) and subtitles found on the original disc. Of course, if you just want the main movie and one audio stream, that's even easier and this guide can help you do that.

How to convert a Blu-ray disc into a .MKV 720P file

After reading a lot of material about that conversion in the last couple of days, i managed to complete my first successful convertion from BluRay to .MKV 720P file. I wasn't able to find a simple step by step guide from the beginning to the end, so i decided to make one. I hope to help other members that have difficutly in doing that kind of conversion, as i did.

How to Decrypt/store/play Blu-Ray and HD-DVD Discs

This guide will describe an extremely basic method of decrypting an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc, excluding all "unnecessary" audio tracks, creating an image (.iso) of your movie, and finally, playing it back. Please note that there are definitely multiple ways to do this and multiple programs that can be used. In addition, there are many many more steps that can be included for various processing needs, this guide is meant to cover just the absolute basics and hopefully help out those who are just starting out. This guide is broken up into 2 sections: the first is related to HD-DVD's and the second for Blu-Rays. UPDATE: TSMuxer now has the ability to open the "main movie" playist file (.mpls file) directly and mux all relevant movie tracks automatically.

Convert .MKV files to Blu-ray or AVCHD

This time we show you how to convert .MKV (Matroska) files into Blu-ray or AVCHD format. The AVCHD is a fairly new format introduced by Sony and Panasonic mainly for video camera recording, but the PlayStation 3 has native support for this format. Most likely some Blu-ray players also support, or will support the AVCHD format. Generally the AVCHD is nothing new - it is basically a Blu-ray file structure and content recorded on a regular DVD media. The media capacity is lower than with Blu-ray, so the quality is not as good but still AVCHD can store high definition 720p movies on a single DVD-R.

Convert MKV files to .m2ts for PlayStation 3

Besides gaming, the Sony PlayStation 3 is an excellent device for high definition video playback. Besides Blu-ray disc playback support, the PS3 can also play high definition video files, which can be downloaded from the Internet. The most common HD video file format is currently the Matroska (.MKV) file format, which the PS3 does not currently support. The .MKV files however in many cases contain AVC encoded video with AC3 audio, which are PS3 supported formats. In order to play the files a simple process of converting the .MKV files to .m2ts files must be performed, but with the free tsMuxeR software this is very simple to achieve and takes only a few minutes.

Basic Guide for HDV to Blu-ray

This is a very basic guide to making a Blu-Ray compatible disk using your HDV (1440 x 1080i ) footage and burn it to a standard DVD+R disk. Quality in not compromised, no re-encoding necessary. You can fit up to 20 min on a single layer and 40 min on a dual layer disk. This guide is very basic and the disk will have no menu and will play the video clip when the disk is inserted in the Blu-Ray player. I tested it on two players and it worked fine.
