How to convert DV to DivX or XviD using Virtualdub and other free software

This guide will describe the basic steps to convert DV to DivX or XviD using free software. You must configure a lot of settings but you will have full control of everything and you can also add optional filters to reduce noise and such. If you want something easier I would recommend Dr. DivX.
