Asafs AVI TV Episodes to one DVD(6hr/DVD)

I have always wanted an easy way to convert AVI files of my favorite series and convert them all at once so that they would fit on a DVD. This method is similar to batch processing of 8 AVI episodes of 42 minutes each so that they fit onto a single DVD. By following this guide the video will be in VCD quality and approx 336 minutes and can be put on a single DVD-5.

vi2DVD is a GUI that uses freeware tools and various freeware encoders (QuEnc/FreeEnc/NuEnc) or CCE to perform conversions such as AVI, OGM, MKV, and WMV to DVD, SVCD, or VCD. It can also be used to convert DVD to SVCD or VCD. One of nice features I like about this program is automatically convert audio files to AC3 format. The current version, Avi2DVD 0.4.2 beta, is still in beta phase so it's still buggy though. After installing Avi2DVD, some of my programs such as VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 or DGIndex became extremely slow and sluggish and returned to normal as soon as I uninstalled it. It seemed to be some kind of codec conflict that’s caused the problem. Hopefully, the future updates will improve this handy program. In this basic guide, I will show how to convert .avi file to DVD only

doom9 CCE 2.70 guide

CCE 2.70 is the latest incarnation of the possibly fastest and highest quality MPEG-2 encoder (it does MPEG-1 as well but other encoders beat it at that). Cinemacraft seems to change the user interface with every minor release, and I recall writing guides for version 2.15, 2.50, 2.66 and 2.67 prior to this guide.

HC Guide

What does HC stand for? I guess Hank's mpeg-2 enCoder would fit since the author goes by the name of Hank. Either way, HC has quickly developed into a very interesting alternative to expensive MPEG-2 encoders like CCE SP. I leave it up to you to decide which one is better, but you can certainly not beat the pricetag - and many applications using MPEG-2 encoders have been quick to support HC as well.

DivxToDVD 2 is VSO Software's latest offering. It has the ability to convert multiple file types, including AVI files (DivX or XviD supported), Quicktime files (MOV) , Windows Media Video files (WMV) etc.. to DVD. What's QuEnc? Another one of Nic's pet projects. Based on ffmpeg, QuEnc is an easy to use MPEG-2 encoder that is completely free, yet yields amazingly good quality (no, it doesn't beat CCE SP, but there's a $1900 price difference between the two). It's also quite fast for an MPEG-2 encoder, but since it's a full encoder, not a compressed domain transcoder, you won't get your DVDs done in 20 minutes.
