| I'll put this question to you guys.........
I have been seeking an answer from the Webroot people about their product Webroot AntiVirus/Spy Sweeper 5.8 for Windows and Webroot Desktop Firewall......... I have a subscription with webroot and for the most part have had no problems with their product. But when they offered Webroot Desktop Firewall along with Webroot AntiVirus I downloaded them. Webroot AntiVirus is ok on my PC........But when I run the Webroot Desktop Firewall part windows installed start up every time IE is launched or a program like msword or even email. This happens on my PC that runs Windows XP SP3. I have two accounts on it and this problem happens on the second account. On my end everything runs ok. Windows installer does not start up when I launch programs or IE. Does anybody have any suggestions that I can try. Right now I un-installed Webroot Desktop Firewall for now. I have been asking the webroot people about it for over two months with no results other than their reply that I maybe installed the programs wrong and to re-install it. I have tried their suggestion with no results. I have been on their Online Customer Support site for two months with no real answer. They even closed my discussion thread and I had to re-open it and put the question to them again. I would appreciate any help you can give....... Thank you in advance...... Jerome PS: I forgot to mention that I have the Norton Anti-virus program on my PC as well. In the past there have been no conflict with the two. |

| Sounds like an issue with some registry setting from an installer not having been cleared.

| Ok,
Do you know if I do this on the user side that is having the issue with windows installer? And what do I look for? I hope I do not sound so ignorant, but I do not want to stop any process or program unless I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing...... Thanks, |

| Sorry I took a while to get back with you.........
BJS, You were correct in sending me the link to Microsoft for the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility program. Webroot suggested the same thing as well.....But I needed them to send me a file to completely wipe out the Desktop firewall program because after I ran the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility I could not un-install the Desktop firewal program. So after I ran their file to cleanup desktop firewall and Spy sweeper I re-installed Spy sweeper and the Desktop firewall. All is well at this point........ Thanks for ou help BJS |
