Windows 7 problems

SEK posted 2009 Jul 29 09:25
VOB2MPG was working fine in XP. But when I upgraded to Windows 7 and reinstall, it will not register. The message is "There is an error registering the program. Please inform the author." I did via registration email, but cannot get any reply. Has anybody tried it on Windows 7?

Thank you, Dwight, for pointing out the thread. However the particular thread was all on svcd2dvd. There was no success story on VOB2MPG which is the problem I have with on-line registraton. After following the advice and setting the file property of compatibilty to XP during the install, I still could not get a valid on-line registration. I would like to hear from the developer or someone who has actually installed VOB2MPG in Windows 7 and sucessfully registered. Thanks.

Finally success on Windows 7 32bit. This is what I did. 1) change property of setup application to Win XP SP2 and Privilege Level to "Run as an administrator". 2) set Compatibility Property of VOB2MPG PRO Setup to "Previous version of Windows" 3) install it in the recommended subdirectory outside of.. /Program Files/, ie., (c:/VOB2MPG PRO/). Voila! Online-registration worked! Back to being happy customer.

I hoped you would take those points away from that thread. I apologize for not elaborating further as I was short on time when I replied.

Hi, I had the problem, too.

Do you run a x64 Windows 7 ?

I'm doing so.

So, to solve the problem you have to install some components from the .net runtime library. To do this, take a look in "Uninstall Software" click on activate / deactivate Windows components

There you will find "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1" . Expand it and you will see 2 more options. Check both of them and click "OK"

After installing this 2 components Start it with Admin Rights and compatibility of Win XP SP2.

That ist what worked for me.

Looks like the x64 is not installing all neccesary components ti install the application.

Hope I could help

If your having problems getting the program to work with vista, or windows 7, you could look for an xp emulator so you can keep using programs that work on xp with your new operating system. Hope this helps
