Will you be following the NCAA Basketball tournament on the web?

| So are you going to be following the NCAA tournament on the web this year?
I'm honestly not into Basketball. Though I'll probably watch since the University of Michigan is FINALLY in after 11 years.... Though that might be my only game... So do you do things like check for updates, watch whole games, do brackets, or other stuff online for the NCAA tournament?

March Madness is about as exciting to watch as the bowl games.

| NCAA???? Is that another star wars acronym Yoda just made up? | ||

| I voted "Other." I'll be watching bits and pieces of it on TV. If my alma mater gets to the final four, I will definitely watch then. | ||

| I hate sports. I don't even know what NCAA stands for or if it is baseball or basketball or football or what. Based on Yoda's comments I guess it is basketball?

| NCAA - National Colegiate Atheltic Association???? I honestly don't know what NCAA exactly stands for.
However it covers all of US College sports in a certain divisional level. Big schools only usually - then smaller schools are in other divisions etc... NCAA for those who don't know cover Basketball, Football, and I'm pretty sure it is in baseball because I know UofM (MI not MN) has a baseball team and they are in the NCAA. However hockey is under the CCHA not NCAA. Edit - Ok even though its been in the news for ever and it starts in earnest tomorrow I have added BASKETBALL to the title thread for clarity.

| This poll is much more about who spends time in this forum than who watches NCAA basketball.
Silly. | ||

| Grip up, folks. There are a lot of people who watch and enjoy the tourney and could give a rats-ass about the rest of the season. I'm one of them.
Since my boys went down in flames last night in round one, I guess I'll be relegated to pulling for UNC (the wife's alma mater). I won't watch all, but I'll watch some. Everything in moderation...including hatred or love for sports...
| yoda313 posted 2009 Mar 20 17:15 | ||
| Hey can you believe it? Michigan won! I actually watched the whole game last night. I'm even gonna try to watch the Saturday game. I have a feeling they'll probably lose since they weren't overpowering against Clemson and nearly gave it up in the last five minutes.... | ||

| Basketball isn't a sport. It's an activity that you might watch in between real sports: baseball and football. | ||
| Pinstripes23 posted 2009 Mar 21 00:27 | ||
| UConn is lookin good - 56 point win on thursday. I look forward to seeing them romp through this field. And yes basketball is a sport. | ||
| hech54 posted 2009 Mar 21 03:08 | ||
While IMO...basketball sucks...there is a chance of physical injury and the participants do normally break a sweat. Golf....now THERE is an "activity - not a sport". Nascar....a close second. :)
| yoda313 posted 2009 Mar 21 07:29 | ||
| Yes hech54 has it right. Basketball is a real "sport" with chance of full contact.
And I definitely agree about Golf and Nascar. Though I'd be more inclined to call golfers "athletes" than I would Nascar race drivers. Not saying Nascar drivers are fat slobs - just not that they are "physically challenged" to perform their duties.

| Let me give it some serious thought over the next 5 seconds...
5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... You know what? I've given it some serious thought over the last few seconds and I've come to realize that it STILL doesn't make a difference in my life what happens here! Ok, fair is fair. I loved the Super Bowl while some people couldn't care less. To each his/her own I guess. Way to go Steelers! :P

| What is a "sport fan"?
A fat human blob watching others playing on his tv, or a person playing it himself rather than watching "pros" on tv? Because if the first is description of a "sport fan" then I answered correctly ("I'm not a sport fan") but if the latter is correct then I should have answered "Other"...
| dadrab posted 2009 Mar 25 08:56 | ||
I can't necessarily get behind this whole comment, but I would much rather watch baseball than football; and football than basketball; and paint dry than soccer or hockey. But that's just me and it's because of my ignorance of those two sports. Went to son #2's middle school baseball game just yesterday. The boy blasted a mighty shot over the center fielder's head and ran it out for a triple. Did I mention the bases were loaded? Now, that's excitement. 8) :woot: I, personally have trouble internalizing excitement for sports if I have no vested interest. I suspect many of us are similar. Some folks love to watch for the "contact buzz" as it were. They can internalize the excitement whether they're vested or not. Ever watched a pickup game (of any kind) and noticed folks who were really into it? That's what I mean. Others have a favorite team or favorite players. Hence, the vested part - just in another way.

| I don't want to nag, (ok maybe I do), but the vast majority of this poll had no interest in it's topic. We'd just like to see something we find interesting at the top of the main page. | ||
