What video format to use for website

gffb posted 2009 Oct 22 02:04
Hi There,

I have looked through lodas of post to try and find the best solution and cant seem to find the answer I need.

I have some videos they are about 350mb in size and last about 40 mins they are 624x352 23fps and mpeg4 what is the best/faster way to convert them to a smaller filesize without loosing any quality. I would like them to be about 200mb or less.

I have tried flv but seem to loose some quality, using aiseesoft total video converter. Any thought worul be helpful

mp4 with h264 video and aac audio off course! See for example http://forum.videohelp.com/topic355179.html . You can also convert using handbrake, format factory or winff.

Thanks for the quick reply.

One question, should I use the settings in your example post or change them?

Use similar settings as your source, resolution: 624x352 pixels but you can try use lower video bitrate like 400-600kbit/s or use constant quality encoding mode.

Excellent work got the file size down to 200mb
Just one last question.
In your example post you managed to embed the video into a post, I am using SMF do you have any idea how I can embed a video in to a post using JW Flv.

I know this is not really your support issue but as you have really helped with this I just though you might know of a way?
