VOB2MPG Pro and DTS audio

blocki posted 2009 Mar 19 05:26
What happens to a DTS audio stream when extracting in VobSet mode? One of the features you mentioned for vobsets reads 'Handle DTS/LPCM audio'. What kind of handling is meant here? Is there any re-encoding done or just merging the vobset and extract the Mpeg from the vob-container (that's what i need)?

Thanks for your help

In VOBSET mode DTS is handled by choosing the following setting:

And so vobs with dts are handled but the audio is encoded to AC3. This is new to v3 as v2.5 would just make a mess of DTS inputs.

If you need to retain the DTS streams untouched - use IFO mode.

Any chance this can be done in IFO mode as well? I have a DVD with DTS that I want converted to AC3 because the devices I want to play the MPG on do not support DTS. I can't currently use VOBSET mode because it doesn't seem to work with Windows 7 Pro due to ffmpeg crashing.

I will post a log file as soon as I can, but in the mean time is it possible to convert a DTS DVD to AC3 in IFOMODE?
