Tuner for Zenith XBR715 VHS/DVD(burner)

solarblast posted 2009 Jun 22 23:03
A neighbor wanted to burn DVDs while watching a TV program or from VHS tapes. He also wanted to be able to record while watching another channel. For these purposes, he bought the Subject device from overstock.com, $100, and now finds it almost worthless. He hasn't had any luck finding a tuner for it, which will likely solve his problem. Anyone know where he can find one?

Any coupon elegible ATSC tuner should feed it composite video and audio.

If your neighbor is on cable he can feed it from a cable box.

He's on cable, comcast, here on the west coast with a pretty modern TV. We'll, in this case, he's trying to do it from comcast but an older TV.

What's the significance of coupon here? Is this related to the conversion units to move to digital?

You didn't say initially if he was watching over the air or on cable so I answered both ways.

I can't find info on a Zenith XBR715, but the XBR716 is a tunerless model so must be fed from a cable box or a over the air tuner. What is his zip code? Maybe an ATSC digital tuner will receive over the air local TV stations.
