Trying to rip my Firefly boxset to separate epis, but .. |

| Used DVD Decrypter to get an .iso of the first disc to my hdd, and then over to Fair Use to split up each episodes when I notice that the 5.1 audio isn't listed in Decrypter, only the AC3/2 channel audio. How/where do I get to select including the surround audio . I'm trying to load the whole series onto my HTPC, & haven't done any ripping in years.
Thank you. |

| Try DVDFAB (latest release of course) to copy the full dvd to your HD, then DVDshrink to seperate out the episodes. |

| Thanks. Do you know if I can do this with the trial version, as I'm not really looking to spend $50 just for this one time
project? |

| Not to worry after the trial expired it still runs, just not with the fancy features.
I only use for decrypting then go nuts with other programs |

| ah ok, very cool, will try it tonight! |

| OK, got DVDFabHD & ripped the DVD to .iso, and dumped it on DVDShrink.
So it has episode one (which is listed as "main movie",) then under extras, there are the other two episodes. But the audio is still showing as AC 2ch, even though the box lists it to be 5.1. I think under extras, there is something mentioning 5.1, but it shows 0 MB. So in order to get the 3 epis separated out in order to convert to .mkv, what should I look for? I tried reauthoring it last night, and got 3 sets of IFOs & VOBS (though only in AC 2 ch). Will try again, this time adding that Extras file mentioning 5.1. Sorry for these dumb questions, it's mos deff been a while since doing this... |

| Have you tried just using the disc itself straight into FW. I haven't used the program for a while, but I used to it that way and it seemed to work.
Maybe DVDFab is taking out the 5.1? |

| This was my first try using FW, so I will take a closer look at it tonight to see if it leaves it in. |

| Why not use Main Movie mode in DVDFab? This way you can rip an episode at a time. Another way is DVDDecrypter ->IFO mode, you then select a chapter to rip. Both solutions will show what type of audio it has. |

| Thanks for the suggestion. I will admit that the new layout of the DVDFab HD is a bit confusing. There is a split function that I looked at, but when I tried to use it, it went straight to DVD to DVD, & ripped the whole thing. |

| For better control over getting the EXACT audio and video streams you want, maybe look at this method too:
