Toshiba RD-XV48DTKB - Recording NTSC Camcorder Home Video |

| I have the above DVD recorder, which is PAL. What I am trying to do is connect a sony camcorder (PAL) , that has a tape (NTSC) and record it to the Toshiba hardrive (then to DVD later on).
However I get a message on the Toshiba saying that "This recording is not allowed to be recorded". Looking in the manual it says that this is because it is either copy protection or the source is NTSC. Is there a way I can bypass this, maybe with a region hack (I looked in the region hacks list and there isn't one) or some other way. Just to be clear the tape is a old home movie and not commercial material. |

| Bigby, you're getting started on the wrong foot in this forum. You already have 2 threads of similar theme started:
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic373482.html http://forum.videohelp.com/topic373635.html In all cases, it is a standards mismatch, and with different frame rates and aspect ratios between PAL and NTSC, it is impossible to do a frame for frame transfer between your 2 mismatched devices through a simple device-to-device hookup. That is the answer to all threads you have started. If you want to know why, do a search on NTSC and PAL standards, along with a search on the necessary steps to converting from one standard to the next. |
