| I know there are a lot of TY media users so I thought I'd share this tid-bit. There is a great conversion chart with the TY to JVC part numbers on Optical Archive http://opticalarchive.com/2009/10/22/ty-to-jvc-part-number-conversion/
Can anyone post the table right in the post?

| For those who have no idea what this is talking about, which included me until I followed the link in the first post and followed another link in that post, TY apparently will stop selling their media under the TY name and it will be known as JVC media. This supposedly started in March, but this is the first I have heard about it. I've been buying TY branded media as recently as last week. | ||

| Just to make this clear, TY bought controlling interest in JVC media, so they are in charge, not JVC. :)

| Is this the same JVC that made VHS? | ||

| looks like the "jvc" - japan victor company sold off just their media division to t.y.
but yes jvc helped make vhs.

Namely the Super VHS. I love my two JVC HR-S9800U S-VHS's I bought off craigslist for $65 each like new. TBC, NR and Video Stabilizer built in.

| Never had any luck with JVC. Had a JVC HR-S9800U S-VHS myself, paid $700, and had to send it back to the factory for repairs. The second time it went out I had to trash it. I don't buy JVC anything.
Recently I bought 600 8x white hub printable TY's. Two of the six spools of 100 were bad. I had 20 coasters in each. The burns would stop about half way through. I was using Instant Copy and Image Burn. I've never even heard of a bad TY! Wonder if they were JVC manufactured. Since then I have burnt 200 Ver 8x and not one coaster as usual. My burners are fairly new, good firmware, Pioneer NEC chip, etc. I don't buy TY anymore only Ver. I have not even heard of anyone else having a problem, but I did.

| That many bad TY discs would usually be traced to other issues.
Unlikely the fault of the media. |
