| I just recently gave in and got a Scientific Atlanta 4250 cable HD box and modified my setup to accommodate the new box using a HDMI port.
Previously I had OTA antenna , DVD player (component cable) and an older PC connected through a DVI to HDMI adapter to the HDMI port of the TV and never experienced any problems. I control everything with a Harmony remote and now when I press the PC activity button the TV says there is no signal on the HDMI. Now when computer starts and TV is on the corresponding imput everything is peacy but is I switch to any other imput and then back to PC imput (HDMI) the TV can't recognize the signal and shuts down. The workaround I found is to disconnect the HDMI cable and reconnect while PC and TV are on to activate the signal. Any ideas on how to fix this problem ? TV is a Hitachi 42hdt79 and PC uses a ATI 9700 board and this problem only started after getting teh Rogers HD box 4250 and It doesn't go away is I disconnect the box. TIA

| Describe the HDMI connection in more detail.
In my experience, it is common for ATI cards to fail to recognize a TV display once the connecton is severed while power is on. Nvidia cards do not seem to have this problem.

I'm using a DVi to HDMI cable I bought from monoprice.com. |
