chances are it's the little wires and not the plug
try wiggling them around...does the sound cut out?
if it does, you may be able to splice in fresh wire
the other end goes inside the DVD player?

one of the wires got damaged ie torn from the middle. The picture of the wire put is that of the one connecting 2 other speaker. The end shown is the one which connects 2 the DVD player. Actually I have 2 buy this, but the problem is that I don't know the name of this socket.

It's a bit hard to tell just from that photo. It might be some sort of Molex brand connector, but may be hard to find. Alternately, you may be able to use a crimp-on wire connector with a socket on one side that fits your device. They are commonly available at auto parts shops, called, 'bullet connectors' There is a male and a female one. You would have two separate plugs, but you could color code them easily enough. Like these:

But you would need a crimp tool also. :(

Alternately, if that is a Molex type connector, the metal connector part is replaceable, if you can find the right one. You use a Molex tool that is a hallow tube that pushes the little holder flaps on the connector against the connector and it slides out the back side.

But if the connector itself isn't the problem and it's the wires themselves, I would just splice some new wires in a few inches from the connector.

Why don't you just splice the broken wires?

Thanks everyone.
The thing is, all this happened while I was out of city. During maintenance of our house, the electrician damaged the wire by mistake and without telling us he disposed it off. We realised this after he had left , so I am stuck now.
All I have now is the torn wire with the plug/connector part missing. That is why I wanted 2 know the name of the plug/connector.
