| Hello, what is the esiest way to get this high def video from my camcorder to my computer? I am new at this. I have softwear "vegas studio plat" but for some reason im having trouble getting the softwear to pull the video from my camera. | ||

| P 84-91 in the manual.
The PC application used needs to support HDV and specifically the HC3. Alternatively the HC3 can be set to output 480i DV format which is widely supported.

| Hi,
I have no experience with Vegas, but with the software I use - Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Plus - it's very easy. You just have to go the the camera menu and make the necessary configurations. Have a look at the camera manual, chapter Copy/Edit; you'll find the instructions there. Regards, Mário

| NEVERMIND THIS
I really cant get this to work...I think the software isnt noticing the camera. I checked the manual but its not to user friendly. Im not sure what settings I really need to set. Im using vegas platinum but it just not showing up. When everythings running smoothly should whats playing on the camera show up on the screen in real time? Or should I be able to access everything from the software?

| ok...so I actually got it to work...
But....When I click "capture video" It gives me the option of clicking "DV" or "HDV" when I choose DV it works fine but when I choose HDV thats when nothing happeneds. Is this a setting on the camera. On the camer under i.LINK CONV it says ON (HDV->DV) can i change this and make it HDV->HDV and then make it show up when I click on the HDV option under vagas? I am recordeing in HDV 1080i so whats the point of down convertin to regular DV?

| If you set it to DV it should behave like a normal 720x480i DV source. You should see it in Movie Maker and other applications like WinDV. It will be downsized to 720x480.
In HDV mode it will only be visible to an HDV aware application. Set the camcoder to HDV mode if you want 1080i. Follow the Vegas Movie Studio instructions for HDV capture.

| OK so now I have more of a vegas question...
Im following the steps to capture in HDV.... Under the Capture Preferences... Devise tab... I choose the Device type as IEEE 1394/MPEG-2TS devise But on the Device drop down box its all greyed out and I cant choose a devise? UPDATED---- Ok so I just read somewhere that on a H3C camera in order to capture HDV you have to set the "i.LINK CONV to off. Well so I do this and now my computer wont detect the camera? Any reason why my computer will only detect it with it set to "(HDV->DV)"?

I don't have either product. I gave you the page numbers in the HC-3 manual. You want it in HDV 1080i mode. Not DV mode. That means you set it as the manual instructs. Windows XP will detect a DV mode camera but not HDV mode. The capture application needs to detect it. If nobody here has Vegas Movie Studio Premium, then you will have to call Sony support.

| I'm having the same problem. Have you resolved this issue?
Did changing iLink to Off and not HDV-HDV work for you?

| All I can add is I once got a Sony HC-1 to capture with full Vegas 6.0d in both HDV and DV formats. Also with the Canon HV20 and Sony Z1U/FX1. Sony Vegas Movie Studio Premium is supposed to be a cut down v6.0d. | ||

| You can capture HDV footage using HDVSplit or CapDVHS. Either one can handle the job easily. HDVSplit will capture to m2t extension and CapDVHS will capture using MPG extension. You can change the MPG to m2t be simply renaming the extension if you want. |
