Saving iPod Library |

| Hi, I have a 30 GB iPod and I want to save a copy of the actual Library to my computer. What I mean is, I don't want to drag the actual files, but the data showing what the files are, like how iTunes has a Library, and you can switch between Libraries. I realize that if I don't have the actual files, I can't play them (i.e.: they themselves aren't there), but the purpose in this is this: my iPod's Library is detailed, large, and specific. It has information I have refined, detailed, and done in a specific way. If, hopefully Lord forbid, I should lose my iPod or it gets broken and its hard drive is lost, it was be horrible to try to get that information all found and refined again. So what I want is simply to keep an account of all of my iPod's in depth details without having to do that all in a painstaking, manual way. Thanks a lot for the help. |

| Presumably you have used iTunes to refine all your info, and then it has synched what's on your computer with your iPod ? Or are you not letting iTunes do everything and manually managing stuff ?
All the info you want should already be stored in iTunes, therefore conceivably you could do a factory reset of your iPod and when you re-synch, it should restore all the info back to the way it was. |

| My iTunes library is different than that of my iPod's. So far my best plan is to make an additional iTunes Library that would be only what I'd put on my iPod. It would be a little annoying, but at least it sounds like an option. |
