| Good Afternoon All,
I have a Samsung HT-BD2 R with Firmware 080724.01_XEF and I tried to make it Region free (at least for the DVD's). The Hack Posted for the BD2 is for a HT-BD2 T and it didn't work for me. All Hacks so far that I found posted on the web didn't really get me anywhere - tried ones for other BD players from Samsung as well but..... I would appreciate if anyone would have an advise for me. Also I was wondering about a a firmware upgrade - I found a newer version on the Australian website and I have asked Samsung if it would cause any issues to upgrade a device purchased in Germany with it but I have not received a answer yet. Any advise - did anyone do this yet? Thanx

| The newer Samsung drives appear to be locked and are not hackable.
Using firmware from a different region often isn't recommended as there may also be other changes either in hardware or software that you are not aware.

Thanx for the reply. HSM

| Same HC.Same problem. My version of firmware is: 080813.01_xef.
I`ve made some blu-ray discs (mkv files) but only 2 of them work. The rest of 6 don`t. If someone know something pls reply. 10x

Knows something about what? The OP wanted region free, which isn't possible. You are having mkv playback issues which is a totally different issue. Your files obviously don't meet the requirements of the player. Compare the ones that work and the ones that don't and see what is different. And you should have started your own thread.

| There have been discussions here and at
http://www.doom9.net (in their Forums section) that some H.264 encoding options don't work for playback on BluRay players after converting MKV files to BluRay. You'll have to look at a thread on AVCHD for more information. I don't have a BluRay player and I don't make AVCHD discs, so I can't help you.

I'm sorry, but there is no hack for your player. No currently sold Samsung DVD player can be unlocked.
