| Hello Everyone:
I have a MPEG2 (converted from .AVI) video that needs a little "tweeking". I have decided to use ReStream to re-do the aspect ratio from 16:9 to cinama scope. It is already 16:9, but the screen in the resulting file looks a tab squeezed (sought of like 4:3 on steroids.  (I am kind of embarrassed here) but I am not familiar with the tick buttons in the program: Intra matrix Non intra matrix Picture Coding Extension Group of Pictures Sequence Extension Stream Extras Sequence Display Extension I am, however, totally familiar with Resolution, Framerate, VBV Buffer Size, Bitrate My question is do I need to tick any of these buttons if all I need to do is recode the aspect ratio? Better yet, if you know of any site where they explain each of these attributes, that would suffice. Your assistant would be highly appreciated. Montgal_NYC

| just change the aspect ratio to what you want and save it. It needs demuxed video (m2v)
should play with correct ar on your pc, standalone dvd players may get confused with any value other than 4:3 or16:9

If it's already 16:9, there's nothing more you can do. You can't use ReStream to change it to cinemascope. The proper cropping/resizing should already have been done before the video was sent to the encoder. If for DVD, you can't use the 2.21:1 DAR. How did you do the AVI2MPEG conversion? What program?
If all you're changing is the DAR, leave the rest alone. And you're not reencoding anything since ReStream isn't an encoder. It just changes flags in the video stream and writes out a new video for you. |
